Review of the Korean animated film Lost in Starlight [ENG-ESP]

I’m not one to watch this type of anime type animated movie, but I wanted to give this Korean production you can find on Netflix a chance. Today I woke up in the mood for romance and all I could find was action and genres I wasn’t prepared for, so here we go.

No soy de ver este tipo de película animadas del tipo anime, pero quería darle una oportunidad a esta producción coreana que puedes encontrar en Netflix. Hoy amanecí con ganas de romance y todo lo que encontraba era acción y géneros para los que no estaba preparada, así que aquí vamos.

A production that combines romance in an exorbitant amount and science fiction, as Nan-young, our protagonist, is an astronaut who since childhood has wanted to go to Mars, planet where her mother who was also an astronaut, died during a storm 24 years ago, the case is that Nan-young has worked very hard to be selected but the psychology tests have not conditioned her as suitable for the trip. When she meets Jay her life changes as she falls in love and finds a reason to stay on earth.

Una producción que combina el romance en una cantidad exorbitante y la ciencia ficción, pues Nan-young, nuestra protagonista, es una astronauta que desde niña ha querido ir a Marte, planeta en el que su madre quien también era astronauta, murió durante una tormenta hace 24 años, el caso es que Nan-young ha trabajado muy duro por ser seleccionada pero las pruebas de psicología no la han condicionado como apta para el viaje. Cuando conoce Jay su vida cambia pues se enamora y encuentra un motivo para quedarse en la tierra.

It is a movie where the drama is there from the beginning, as Nan-young wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps, but I wonder, who would want to go to the place where her mother died, she relives the moment of the storm through the saved videos of the station on Mars, which makes her a sad person but also very focused on her goal. Jay, is a singer who at first seemed to have given up music having recorded only one song and suddenly it turns out that he did play for a band. The two characters as their love grew supported each other to achieve their dreams and although Jay after seeing what happened to Nan-young’s mother felt afraid of losing her he still supported her on the condition that she would come back.

The story is set in the year 2026, but in a very different one, because here cars fly and make holographic phone calls, even in outer space, so that part was interesting.

Es una película donde el drama está desde el principio, ya que Nan-young quiere seguir los pasos de su mamá, pero yo me pregunto, quién querría ir al lugar donde su madre murió, revive el momento de la tormenta por los videos guardados de la estación en Marte, lo que la hace una persona triste pero también muy enfocada en su objetivo. Jay, es un cantante que al principio parecía que había dejado la música habiendo grabado una sola canción y repentinamente resulta que si tocaba para una banda. Los dos personajes mientras su amor crecía se apoyaron para alcanzar sus sueños y aunque Jay luego de ver lo que le pasó a la madre de Nan-young sintió miedo de perderla de igual manera la apoyó con la condición de que volviera.

La historia está ambientada en el años 2026, pero en uno muy diferente, pues aquí los autos vuelan y hacen las llamadas telefónica holográficas, hasta estando en el espacio exterior, así que esa parte fue interesante.

The whole movie is visually very nice, at the same time it is cloying, the design and images are beautiful, highlighting the blue colors on earth and red on Mars which is where science fiction makes an appearance, the scenes on the red planet made me remember the movie Mission Rescue with Matt Damon, so I liked these scenes, although at the top of the movie I didn't really understand what happened to Nan-young being on Mars, but that's also part of science fiction and the type of animation, what I did like is that the ending although for a moment I thought it was going to be different and out of the ordinary, it turned out complementing everything I had already seen in the movie.

Toda la película es visualmente muy bonita, al mismo tiempo que es empalagosa, el diseño y las imágenes son hermosas, resaltando los colores azules en la tierra y el rojo en Marte que es donde la ciencia ficción hace aparición, las escenas en el planeta rojo me hicieron recordar la película Misión Rescate con Matt Damon, así que estas escenas me gustaron, aunque en la parte cumbre de la película no entendí mucho que fue lo que le paso a Nan-young estando en Marte, pero eso también es parte de la ciencia ficción y el tipo de animación, lo que si es que el final aunque por un momento pensé que iba a ser diferente y fuera de lo común, resultó complementando todo lo que ya había visto en la película.

For my first movie of this style, it wasn’t too bad, although I imagined it less vein-splittingly romantic, but it still accomplished the goal of getting me out of my comfort zone and seeing something totally different.

Para ser mi primera película de este estilo, no estuvo tan mal, aunque me la imaginé menos romántica corta venas, pero aún así cumplió el objetivo de sacarme de mi zona de confort y ver algo totalmente diferente.
