Wake Up Dead Man a Knives Out Mistery - Review and opinion [ENG-ESP]

I just saw this movie and couldn't wait to tell you how much I enjoyed it. I really like crime and mystery movies, so the first Knives Out became one of my favorites. I love gradually discovering the reasons behind the murder as you get to know each of the people involved or suspected suspects. In that case, reliving the last moments of the murdered man with his family. When the second one came out, I thought it was weak, and I'm not really going to comment on it because I've forgotten what it's about. That's a sign of a good movie; it should stay in your memory.

Having had the experience of the second film, I didn't have high expectations for the third, but it really kept me engaged because it has many ingredients to unravel a story that involves not only the discovery of the murderer but also the Catholic faith, since the person stabbed in the back during the church ceremony is Monsignor Wicks, and the first person to approach him is the assistant priest Jud, who is accused as almost the only suspect.

Acabo de ver esta película y no podía dejar pasar más tiempo para contarles que me ha causado una gran satisfacción. Me gustan mucho las películas de crimen y misterios, así que la primera de Knives Out se convirtió en una de mis favoritas, me encanta eso de ir descubriendo poco a poco las razones del asesinato mientras se van conociendo a cada uno de los involucrados o presuntos sospechosos. En aquel caso reviviendo como habían transcurrido los últimos momentos del asesinado con su familia. Cuando salió la segunda me pareció floja y de verdad no voy a comentar nada porque he olvidado de que trata, eso es un indicio de cuando una película es buena: debe quedar en tu memoria.

Teniendo la experiencia de la segunda película no tenía muchas expectativas con la tercera, pero de verdad me ha mantenido atenta porque cuenta con muchos ingredientes para ir desenredando una historia que involucra no solo el descubrimiento del asesino sino que también involucra la fé católica, pues el asesinado con un puñal en la espalda durante la ceremonia eclesiástica es el Monseñor Wicks, la primera persona en acercarse es el sacerdote auxiliar Jud, quien es el acusado como casi el único sospechoso.

The story draws you in by telling you about Monsignor Wicks’ family history and the hatred he feels toward the world, conveying that feeling to all the parishioners. In contrast, we have Jud, a young priest who believes in forgiving oneself, that God is the path to salvation, and that no matter what you have done in the past, you can continue in God. We also have a group of parishioners devoted to Wicks, whom he keeps in misery. In this group, we find actors such as Jeremy Renner, Thomas Haden, Glenn Close, and Kerry Washington. As for the police, I found it very strange to see Mila Kunis in a different role, and although she didn’t stand out in the plot, we knew she was there. And, of course, Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc.

With this type of film, it’s difficult to reveal small details, as everything connects to what could be key elements in the resolution. What is certain is that the plot unfolds in such a way that you won’t want to look at your phone or let anyone talk to you, because you think you’re going to miss some important detail. Within the group devoted to Monsignor Wicks, there are those who are just there for the sake of it, since, in a way, they don’t contribute anything interesting, but I understand that this is the way for the viewer to think of everyone as suspects.

La historia te envuelve contándote cosas del pasado familiar del Monseñor Wicks y el odio que siente hacía el mundo, transmitiendo ese sentimiento a todos los feligreses, en contraparte tenemos a Jud, un joven sacerdote que cree en el perdón hacía uno mismo, en que Dios es el camino para la salvación y que no importa lo que hayas hecho en el pasado puedes continuar en Dios. También tenemos un grupo de feligreses devotos de Wicks, a los que mantiene sucumbidos en la desdicha, en este grupo encontramos actores como Jeremy Renner, Thomas Haden, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington. En cuanto a los policías me pareció super extraño ver a Mila Kunis en un personaje diferente y aunque no destacó dentro de la trama supimos que ahí estaba. Y por supuesto, Daniel Craig como el detective Benoit Blanc.

Con este tipo de películas es difícil contar pequeños detalles, pues cada cosa conecta con lo que pudiera ser los elementos claves para la resolución. Lo que si es cierto es que la trama se va contando de manera que no querrás ver el teléfono o que alguien te hable, pues creeras que vas a perder un detalle importantes. Dentro del grupo devoto al Monseñor Wicks, tenemos quienes solo están por estar pues en cierta manera no aportan algo interesantes, pero entiendo que es la manera de que el espectador pueda pensar en todos como sospechosos.

I really liked the way it was told and all the details that were given. In a way, I feel that no loose ends were left untied and that everything fit together perfectly, as it unfolded from the beginning, with the story of the impure woman who is demonized by religion and the other part of the woman who is capable of anything for her faith and loyalty to what she believes in. But what I liked most were the priests. The story is told by Jud, who recounts how he experienced everything from the moment he arrived at the parish. He is also the one who introduces us to Wicks, his eccentricities, and bad habits. Unlike other films, this one doesn’t focus so much on the day of the murder, but rather on the days and years leading up to it. So you have to pay attention.

As I said, I liked it. It’s entertaining, and although some people may figure out who the culprit is from the beginning, it may not be so easy to figure out the motives. For that, you have to wait for the final details to be revealed near the end of the film. So, for me, it’s worth it, and I would even watch it again. I highly recommend it if you want to find what you expect from this type of story and be satisfied.

Me gustó mucho la manera en la que se contó y todos los detalles que se dieron, en cierta manera me parece que no se dejó ningún cabo suelto y que cada cosa encajó de manera perfecta, como se desarrolló desde el principio, con la historia de la mujer impura que es satanizada por la religión y la otra parte de la mujer que es capaz de todo por la fé y ser leal a lo que cree. Pero lo que más me gustó fueron los sacerdotes, la historia es contada por Jud, de como él vivió todos los momentos desde que llegó a la parroquia, también es quien nos presenta a Wicks, sus excentricidades y malos hábitos. A diferencia de las otras películas, aquí no te repasa tanto el día del asesinato sino los días y años anteriores. Así que hay que estar atento.

Cómo dije me gustó, es entretenida y aunque puede que alguien logre descubrir desde el principio el culpable, tal vez no le sea tan fácil saber las razones, para eso debe esperar a que se revelen los últimos datos casi al final de la película. Así que para mí vale la pena y hasta la volvería a ver. Totalmente recomendada para encontrar lo que se espera de este tipo de historias y quedar satisfecho.
