Sé que muchos estamos a la espera de la película "Avatar: fuego y cenizas", y creo que no hay mejor manera de prepararnos que hablando de Avatar 2: el camino del agua. Más que hablar de la trama de la película simplemente deseo compartir mi apreciación sobre esta, desglosando algunos puntos que desde la primera película han ido desarrollando la historia de Jake Sully y su familia. Y es que para esta segunda parte ya no percibimos a Jake como un soldado valiente y temerario sino que la figura de un padre protector emerge junto a la figura de una madre como Neytiri quien, a diferencia de su esposo, mantiene viva esa llama guerrera que la caracterizó desde siempre.

Cuatro hijos mas uno adoptivo (Miles "Spider") es el cuadro familiar con el que ahora se presentan Jake y Neytiri. Ya aquí percibo que en la delegación de roles al ser una familia algo grande el guión trata de darle a cada uno un papel importante que a su vez se disuelve porque no hay uno que destaque entre los demás y en conjunto tampoco veo un gran aporte. Como hijo mayor siento que Neteyam debió aparecer más, ya que incluso en gran parte de la película el protagonismo lo tiene su hermano menor Lo'ak. Por momentos el personaje de Kiri se asoma como "la elegida", un rol que poco a poco pasa a ser el de esa niña extraña que no encaja en ningún lugar. En el caso de Spider es un personaje que por momentos no sabes si está con los malos o con los buenos, y aunque al final sabemos que sigue con Sully y su familia también me da la sensación de cierta inseguridad que recae en ahora saber que su padre es el peor enemigo de quienes lo adoptaron.

I know that many of us are eagerly awaiting the movie "Avatar: Fire and Ash," and I think there's no better way to prepare than by talking about Avatar 2: The Way of Water. Rather than discussing the plot of the movie, I simply want to share my appreciation for it, breaking down some points that have developed the story of Jake Sully and his family since the first movie. In this second installment, we no longer perceive Jake as a brave and reckless soldier, but rather as a protective father figure alongside a mother figure like Neytiri who, unlike her husband, keeps alive the warrior spirit that has always characterized her.

Four children plus one adopted child (Miles "Spider") is the family picture that Jake and Neytiri now present. Here I already perceive that in the delegation of roles, as it is a somewhat large family, the script tries to give each one an important role, which in turn dissolves because there is no one who stands out among the others, and as a whole I don't see a great contribution either. As the eldest son, I feel that Neteyam should have appeared more, since even in much of the film, the spotlight is on his younger brother Lo'ak. At times, Kiri's character appears as "the chosen one," a role that gradually becomes that of the strange girl who doesn't fit in anywhere. In the case of Spider, he is a character who at times you don't know if he is with the bad guys or the good guys, and although in the end we know that he stays with Sully and his family, I also get the feeling of a certain insecurity that comes from now knowing that his father is the worst enemy of those who adopted him.

Con el renacer del coronel Miles también resurge la lucha entre las personas del cielo y los na'vi, una guerra que se convierte en una especie de venganza personal. Y es aquí donde quizás no entiendo un punto de la película cuando Sully y su familia deciden dejar a los na'vi para esconderse de Miles. Aquí pensé: "Bueno. De seguro Miles atacará a los Na'vi y después irá tras Sully", pero no fue así, y sin tanta explicación de pronto los na"vi salen de la película mientras Miles va en busca de Sully y su familia. Nuevamente vemos como Jake deja claro que su papel de padre está por encima de cualquier título de guerrero poderoso (Toruk Makto) mientras una esposa sumisa como Neytiri apacigua sus ganas de luchar para apoyar a su esposo y a su familia.

La transición de la familia Sully en su nuevo hogar por momentos me parece un poco alargada, y es que por un tramo determinado de la película hasta te olvidas de que hay enemigos que van tras ellos. La experiencia de Lo'ak con Payakan me parece similar a la de Jake con Toruk en la primera película, pero en esta oportunidad destacando más el tema de la amistad y de cómo este Tulkun fue quien salvó la vida de Lo'ak. Con respecto a los Tulkun, pienso que es un buen tema esto del pacto que tenían de "no matar", lo cual los hacia ver vulnerables ante los seres humanos que los cazaban con maldad y mucha codicia. En la escena de más acción, sin duda alguna que la mejor parte se la lleva el mismo Payakan al iniciar el ataque contra Miles y sus hombres.

With Colonel Miles's rebirth, the struggle between the sky people and the Na'vi resurfaces, a war that becomes a kind of personal vendetta. And this is where I perhaps don't understand one point in the film, when Sully and his family decide to leave the Na'vi to hide from Miles. Here I thought, "Well, surely Miles will attack the Na'vi and then go after Sully," but that wasn't the case, and without much explanation, the Na'vi suddenly leave the film while Miles goes in search of Sully and his family. Once again, we see how Jake makes it clear that his role as a father is above any title of powerful warrior (Toruk Makto), while a submissive wife like Neytiri appeases his desire to fight in order to support her husband and family.

The Sully family's transition to their new home seems a little drawn out at times, and for a certain part of the film, you even forget that there are enemies after them. Lo'ak's experience with Payakan seems similar to Jake's with Toruk in the first film, but this time the theme of friendship is more prominent, and how this Tulkun saved Lo'ak's life. Regarding the Tulkun, I think the pact they had to "not kill" is a good theme, which made them seem vulnerable to the humans who hunted them with malice and greed. In the most action-packed scene, Payakan himself undoubtedly steals the show when he launches the attack against Miles and his men.

Las gráficas y los escenarios preparados son sencillamente espectaculares, sobre todo cuando la película ya se empieza a desarrollar más en el mar y sus alrededores. Quizás un punto no tan cómodo para mí sería la duración de la misma, sobrepasando las tres horas que no la hacen ver aburrida pero sí en algunos tramos notas que la película está siendo larga, lo cual si lo notas mientras la estás viendo es porque hay algo que falta para conectarte y meterte aún más. Entre las partes más tristes de la película está la muerte de Netayam y el exilio del mismo Payakan que revela el trato injusto que puede haber cuando no se conoce el trasfondo y la verdadera intención de tus acciones.

El final de esta película deja las puertas abiertas para una tercera entrega donde podremos ver una vez más a la familia Sully en acción. ¿Qué adversidades les esperan en el futuro? ¿Seguirá la sed de venganza corriendo por las venas del coronel Miles? Esto es tan solo un pequeño detalle para la gran expectativa que pronto se disipara en Avatar 3: fuego y cenizas.

The graphics and settings are simply spectacular, especially when the film begins to unfold more at sea and its surroundings. Perhaps one point that I found less comfortable was the length of the film, which exceeds three hours. It's not boring, but in some parts you notice that the film is long, which, if you notice it while you're watching it, is because there's something missing to connect you and draw you in even more. Among the saddest parts of the film are the death of Netayam and the exile of Payakan himself, which reveals the unfair treatment that can occur when the background and true intention of your actions are unknown.

The ending of this film leaves the door open for a third installment where we will once again see the Sully family in action. What adversities await them in the future? Will the thirst for revenge continue to run through Colonel Miles' veins? This is just a small detail in the grand scheme of things, which will soon be revealed in Avatar 3: Fire and Ash.
