New movie releases keep coming, and each one has been a huge success thanks to how they were put together—they feel unique and entertaining from the very first moment they start. At the same time, there are others that try to break away from what we already know, continue the story, or adapt something old. That’s why Predator: Badlands was recently released, combining elements of both approaches. While it maintains the essence of the franchise, it also tries to offer a fresh twist with more action and new challenges that set it apart.

Los estrenos de películas siguen llegando y cada una de ellas han sido todo un éxito por la manera cómo lograron armar ya que se sienten unicas y divertidas desde el primer momento que comienzan, como también hay otras que intentan romper con lo que ya conocemos, continuar con la historia o adaptarse a algo viejo. Por eso hace poco se estrenó Predator: Badlands, la cual combina un poco de esos dos enfoques, a pesar de que mantiene la esencia de la saga, pero al mismo tiempo intenta darle un giro distinto más acción y nuevos desafíos que marcan la diferencia.

This new production really caught my attention precisely because it’s part of an ongoing franchise that adapts to different approaches every year. So from the very beginning, we see a different kind of Predator story, since it takes a bit more of a risk and doesn’t revolve entirely around humans trying to survive against a monster; instead, the narrative focuses on something different, and that’s what has earned the film such positive reviews. It’s a constant evolution within an environment that offers no respite—and is downright terrifying.

The film is packed with action, which adds to its value, as do all those moments of tension, confrontations, and the constant danger that characterizes the franchise—since even the slightest mistake can make everything go wrong, yet they keep taking risks and pushing the boundaries. Each scene is also very well executed, as if the goal weren’t just to show, but to build something more and create a great experience.

Esta nueva producción me llamo mucho la atención por el mismo hecho de que siguen saliendo parte de las franquicias y cada año se adapta a distinto enfoques. Así que desde el inicio podemos ver una historia distinta de Predator, puesto que se arriesga un poco más y no todo gira alrededor de humanos intentando sobrevivir ante un monstruo, sino que la narrativa apuesta en al distinto y eso ha permitido que la película tenga buenas críticas. Donde será toda una nueva evolución constante dentro de un entorno que no da tregua, si no da miedo.

La película cuneta con mucha acción y es algo que le da valor, al igual que cada uno de esos momentos de tensión, enfrentamientos y ese peligro constante que caracteriza a la franquicia, ya que un mínimo error todo puede salir mal aun así sígueme arriesgando y van más allá. También cada una de las escenas se adaptan muy bien, como si no se tratara solo de mostrar, sino de construir algo más y crear una gran experiencia.

In this new film, the setting plays a key role, as everything feels more hostile, more confined, more uncomfortable—as if it were the end of everything—yet at the same time, it allows the characters to move freely, which helps maintain that sense of tension throughout the entire movie.

Another aspect that adds value and is something entirely new is the way the story is told, as it places much greater emphasis on showing more of the Predator, making the story more impactful than in the earlier installments. However, not everything works perfectly, as there are moments of excessive filler that can become tedious, especially for those expecting a more classic film within the franchise.

Para esta nueva producción la ambientación juega un papel importante, ya que todo se siente más hostil, más cerrado, más incómodo, como si fuera el final de todo, pero a la vez le da esa oportunidad a los personajes de que puedan fluir tranquilos, y eso ayuda a mantener esa sensación de presión durante toda la película.

Otras de las cosas que le da valor y es algo totalmente nuevo es la forma de contar la historia, puesto que le hacen mucho más énfasis al mostrar más del depredador y permite que la historia sea más impactante que en las primeras entregas. Sin embargo, no todo funciona perfecto, ya que hay momentos de mucho relleno y puede llegar a ser aburrido, sobre todo a quienes esperan una película más clásica dentro de la saga.

It’s a good movie to continue the adventure, since beyond the action, it’s an attempt at evolution; and that’s why, in the end, Predator: Badlands doesn’t aim to be the best movie in the franchise, but rather one that dares to change, try new effects—and likely some artificial intelligence. And in that attempt, it manages to leave a clear impression: there’s still room to do different things within this universe—and even more so with that monster, which has so much more to offer.

Es una buena película para seguir con la aventura, puesto que más allá de la acción es un intento de evolución y por eso al final, Predator: Badlands no busca ser la mejor película de la franquicia, sino una que se atreve a cambiar, probar efectos nuevos, seguramente algo de inteligencia artificial. Y en ese intento, logra dejar una sensación clara: todavía hay espacio para hacer cosas distintas dentro de este universo y más aún con ese monstruo que tiene mucho para dar.
