Por eso llegó The Housemaid, con una historia bastante interesante, ya que cuenta con un thriller doméstico que juega con las apariencias, los secretos y la tensión que puede esconderse detrás de una vida aparentemente perfecta y más aún con una familia al tenerlo todo.

Esta vez veremos algo que quizás puede llegar a ocurrir en la vida real y quedara allí como un gran secreto, donde sigue a Millie, una joven que intenta empezar de nuevo y consigue un trabajo como empleada doméstica en la casa de una familia adinerada. Al principio, todo parece una oportunidad ideal: una gran casa, estabilidad y una segunda oportunidad. Pero pronto comienzan a aparecer comportamientos extraños, silencios incómodos y situaciones que no terminan de encajar y es aquí donde nos preguntamos ¿Podrá seguir con el trabajo? ¿Podrá darle final a esa situación? y más allá de ser una casa como refugio, se convierte en un lugar lleno de tensión donde cada gesto parece esconder algo más.

The pace also has its ups and downs, moving in a unique way to keep the viewer engaged, passing through moments of calm and slowly advancing until it reaches its most intense moments.

Esta es una producción bastante sencilla, pocas escenas y su mayor ambiente es que toda la historia se desarrolla dentro del hogar, y esa sensación de encierro al estar dentro de cuatro paredes funciona muy bien para construir el suspenso. Cada espacio de ese lugar, cuenta con algo que lo convierte en una atmósfera inquietante sin necesidad de grandes escenas de acción, además va mostrando diversas costumbres que cada familia tiene en su casa y se tiene que cumplir.

Es por eso que esta película no busca reinventar el género ni crear algo más allá que sea exagerado, simplemente compartir esos momentos que pueden llegar sentirse familiares para quienes han visto otros thrillers de secretos familiares y vidas perfectas que se derrumban. Como también el ritmo tiene altibajos, donde se va moviendo de una manera única para así poder tener al espectador atento, pasando por esos momentos de tranquilidad y lentamente avanza hasta llegar a sus momentos más intensos.

Las actuaciones de esta película, son muy pocas, pero cada una aporta para así poder sostener toda esa aventura, donde los personajes no son del todo lo que parecen, ya que cuentan con personalidad distinta para el momento que les convenga y eso le da un gran toque. A medida que avanza la historia, las dinámicas de poder, manipulación y control se vuelven más evidentes, y el tono cambia de un drama doméstico a un thriller psicológico con giros inesperados.
