It’s a genre that has also gained momentum, and that speaks to the fact that the world is consumed by war. That’s why The Truce was released—it takes a much quieter path, but one that’s no less powerful. Moreover, it isn’t the typical story of war and death; rather, it depicts the most agonizing moments, where it doesn’t matter who wins or loses, but what happens when the war ends and soldiers are forced to coexist with those they once considered enemies.

Las películas de guerra siempre buscan impactar con explosiones, batallas y momentos épicos, y por eso se han ganado muy buenos premios y es un género que también ha tomado fuerza y eso habla de que el mundo las guerras nos paran. Por eso se estrenó The Truce, que toma un camino mucho más silencioso, pero no por eso menos poderoso, además no es la típica historia de guerra, muerte, si no serán los minutos más desesperante, donde no importa quién gana o pierde, sino qué ocurre cuando la guerra termina y los soldados se ven obligados a convivir con aquello que antes consideraban enemigo.

It shifts from a war movie and transforms into something much more human—no battles, no bullets, just a new beginning—and that’s where we ask ourselves: What remains of a person after the war? Is it possible to stop seeing the other as an enemy? Can we coexist with the enemy?

La película nos lleva a un lugar con escenas frías, duras, tristes, duras, además lugar donde el tiempo parece avanzar más lento y donde cada día pesa más que el anterior. Muchas veces las películas de guerra muestran es esa guerra, pero aquí lo interesante no es lo que pasa afuera, sino lo que empieza a cambiar por dentro, pasando de una película bélica y se transforma en algo mucho más humano, sin batallas, sin balas, solo un nuevo comienzo y es allí donde nos preguntamos ¿Qué queda de una persona después de la guerra? ¿Es posible dejar de ver al otro como enemigo?¿Se puede convivir con enemigo?

Furthermore, the film highlights moments of silence, conveyed through gestures, glances, and those subtle instances where everything shifts without a sound.

The style is unique; at a certain point, it slows down, without major plot twists. But that is precisely where its essence lies—it does not seek to entertain with constant intensity, but rather to build an atmosphere where the viewer is also compelled to pause, observe, and consider whether they would truly be in such a situation.

Visually, everything complements and fits together perfectly, starting with the settings that convey isolation, weariness, and routine. Everything is at the service of a single idea: to show how war destroys not only places but also certainties. In this way, it manages to be honest and reveal that there are people with good hearts despite having endured terrible situations.

The Truce busca romper el esquema de las películas de guerra, y poder mostrar esa otra cara de la moneda, donde hay pocos discursos, escenas diseñadas para explicar y encajar esa situación. Además, se destacan momentos de silencio, en los gestos, más miradas y en esos pequeños momentos donde todo cambia sin hacer ruido.

El estilo es único, donde llega cierto punto donde se vuelve lento, sin grandes giros. Pero precisamente ahí está su esencia y no busca entretener con intensidad constante, sino construir una atmósfera donde el espectador también se vea obligado a detenerse, a observar y pensar si es realmente uno quien estaría en una situación como esa.

Visualmente, todo acompaña y encaja a la perfección, comenzando desde los escenarios que transmiten aislamiento, desgaste, rutina. Todo está puesto al servicio de una idea: mostrar cómo la guerra no solo destruye lugares, sino también certezas. Logrando así poder ser honesta y mostrar qué hay personas con un corazón bueno a pesar de haber pasado terribles situaciones.

Sometimes, the most interesting aspect of war isn’t the battle itself, but the decisions, the strategies, and who decides to end it. So these will be the most compelling moments, and if you’re looking for something different to watch, don’t miss this one.

Me gusto mucho el resultado de esta película The Truce y deja una sensación particular, ya que no es emoción intensa ni de adrenalina, sino de reflexión, ver otro punto de vista y a veces lo interesante de la guerra no es la batalla, sino las decisiones, las estrategias y quién decide terminarla.
