STRAW is a recently released movie by Tyler Perry which includes stars like Taraji P. Henson, Teyana Taylor and Sherri Shepherd. This movie has been on the lips of everyone especially women who have watched this masterpiece because it is something we can relate to in our daily lives. The chaos, depression and anxiety we face when things go wrong for a second, the trauma of not been able to afford certain amenities for our families can turn things around differently. Like Taraji said through her character in the movie "being poor is expensive" because you are excluded from life as you cannot afford the basic amenities of life, even you Freedom is held hostage.

A summary of the movie goes to show a woman of age 45 named Janiyah, started her day by taken her daughter to school I her old car which was a necessity because its faster to take her daughter to the hospital bacause of her condition, while she did not have any money, she still showed kindness to an hungry man while her landlord was threatening to throw her things out by 10am if she does not pay her rent. She promised to pay up because she was getting her paycheck that day and also to pay $40 for her daughters school lunch.

In the cause of doing this, she was late to her working place which is a mall and her racist boss was not having it but threatened to fire her when she got a call that her daughter was having a crisis at school. It was hell on getting to the school because on her way there was traffic and she tried to maneuver her way through but a raging police officer threatened to kill her and her car was impounded.

On getting to the school, it was too late because Janniyah was not feeding her well because she had no money hence the social services took her away for better care. This was very devastating for her that she rushed back to her working place but on getting there, the boss queried her that she spent more than the 30 minutes he gave her hence he fired her. Janniyah Was okay with this and ordered for her pay check but she was denied this because once you are fired the paycheck comes in a mail but this was just a selfish Reason by the boss so as to stress the lady.

While at this, armed robbers came in and things took a different turn, she got her cheque from the desk and headed straight for the bank right across her workplace. While at the bank, the teller asked for her ID so as to cash her checque but these had been seized by the cop with her expired license and registration. She got frustrated and unknowingly holds the bank hostage.

This movie is one that speaks to virtually everybody in the world about how things goes when you cannot afford certain things to live a healthy and normal lifestyle. It shows that a lazy man cannot survive in a system that does not give voice to the voiceless. Hence, that pay chequered was a means of survival that has become a necessity and would have covered a lot. If only she was given it would sort the rent, launch bill for her daughter, license, groceries and so on. This movie is an emotional one that speaks to humanity, we should always look out for one another in whatever way we can, just as the bank manager did when she found out that Janniyah was hallucinating her daughter who died last night.

In conclusion, we all need money to survive and live a free life void of manipulation and disrespect.
