A thief who hides inside a toy store for six months without anyone noticing. Not the employees, nor the administrative staff. Practically living there and going about his life. If someone mentions this in conversation, most people will say it's unreal, that it's a lie, a fantasy, but no, this happened in real life and it was a case that made headlines in newspapers and television news programs across the country.

That's what this movie is about, the life of Jeffrey Manchester, a man who dedicated himself to robbing McDonald's, seeing the vulnerability of those establishments, opening a hole in the roof and entering to steal the money they had stored there. Of course, every thief makes a mistake sooner or later, which ends their streak of luck, and it was only a matter of time before they caught him.

The unusual thing is that the character escapes from prison and, in order not to be caught again, has the brilliant idea of taking refuge in a toy store, I think a well-known brand in that country, and making that place his home. He bathes, dresses, and takes merchandise to sell on the black market so he can get cash. So far, I don't know if this is true to the real story, but the film takes a sentimental turn by turning the thief into a rather pleasant and likeable character who falls in love with a beautiful woman with children who needs someone to protect her.

To play this thief and win over the audience, they chose Channing Tatum, a very handsome actor with enough charisma to be convincing and, at the same time, with a touch of comic talent to make us laugh in many of the situations that arise in the plot.

There are several films by filmmaker Derek Cianfrance that fascinate me. I like it better when the director focuses on completely dramatic stories, which is why I watched The Roofman, although thanks to Tatum's charm I was able to watch it until the end and I liked it, even though I found it a bit strange in its mix of drama, tragedy, and that touch of humor.

The moral dilemma of the protagonist, who must lie in order to live in the environment in which he finds himself. That sincere love that is born, but from which he must hide many things and which could be discovered at any moment. He is solely responsible for everything; he was the one who made the wrong decisions and at some point he will have to face the consequences.

It doesn't try to teach lessons; it's just a story based on real events, which ends up being a fairly commercial and entertaining product for all audiences. My only complaint would be its length. It's a story that could have been shorter.

I recommend it for a weekend when you're looking for entertainment and a very enjoyable story. I'll read your comments.

Un ladrón que se esconde durante seis meses dentro de una tienda de juguetes sin que nadie se dé cuenta. Ni los empleados, ni el personal administrativo. Prácticamente viviendo allí y llevando su vida. Si alguien menciona esto en una conversación, la mayoría de la gente dirá que es irreal, que es una mentira, una fantasía, pero no, esto sucedió en la vida real y fue un caso que acaparó los titulares de los periódicos y los programas de noticias de televisión de todo el país.

De eso trata esta película, de la vida de Jeffrey Manchester, un hombre que se dedicó a robar en McDonald's, al ver la vulnerabilidad de esos establecimientos, abriendo un agujero en el techo y entrando para robar el dinero que tenían allí guardado. Por supuesto, todo ladrón comete un error tarde o temprano, lo que pone fin a su racha de suerte, y era solo cuestión de tiempo que lo atraparan.

Lo inusual es que el personaje se fuga de la cárcel y, para no ser capturado de nuevo, tiene la brillante idea de refugiarse en una tienda de juguetes, creo que de una marca muy conocida en ese país, y convertir ese lugar en su hogar. Se baña, se viste y se lleva mercancía para venderla en el mercado negro y así poder disponer de dinero en efectivo. Hasta ahora, no sé si esto es fiel a la historia real, pero la película da un giro sentimental al convertir al ladrón en un personaje bastante agradable y simpático que se enamora de una mujer guapa con hijos que necesita a alguien que la proteja.

Para interpretar a este ladrón y ganarse al público, eligieron a Channing Tatum, un actor muy guapo con el carisma suficiente para resultar convincente y, al mismo tiempo, con un toque de talento cómico para hacernos reír en muchas de las situaciones que se plantean en la trama.

Hay varias películas del cineasta Derek Cianfrance que me fascinan. Me gusta más cuando el director se centra en historias completamente dramáticas, por eso vi Roofman, aunque gracias al encanto de Tatum pude verla hasta el final y me gustó, aunque me pareció un poco extraña en su mezcla de drama, tragedia y ese toque de humor.

El dilema moral del protagonista, que debe mentir para poder convivir en el entorno en el que se encuentra. Ese amor sincero que nace, pero del que debe ocultar muchas cosas y que podría descubrirse en cualquier momento. Él es el único responsable de todo; fue él quien tomó las decisiones equivocadas y en algún momento tendrá que afrontar las consecuencias.

No pretende dar lecciones; es solo una historia basada en hechos reales, que acaba siendo un producto bastante comercial y entretenido para todos los públicos. Mi única queja sería su duración. Es una historia que podría haber sido más corta.

La recomiendo para un fin de semana en el que se busque entretenimiento y una historia muy amena. Leeré tus comentarios.
