I'm watching some lighthearted series, which are good for killing time and also entertaining, and Steal has just been released on Amazon Prime. The trailer convinced me to watch it. It's a thriller about a financial heist, and the first episode is very good, it flies by and keeps you in suspense throughout. The second episode also convinced me to watch the whole thing.

However, I liked the first three episodes and half of the fourth the most, because after some things that happen in the fourth episode, despite maintaining my interest in finding out who the hell is behind it all, it's towards the end where, in my opinion, it falls short in several aspects. The last two episodes aren't bad; they have their share of tension and action to wrap up the plot, but maybe I was expecting a different ending.

It is still a product that offers entertainment. If you like stories about robberies and the mystery of discovering, along with the protagonists, who organized it. In this case, the robbery is not of a bank, but a very well-planned robbery of an investment fund that manages the money of millions of people for their pensions. The execution of the robbery in the first episode is excellent, but it is not something new. It uses the usual codes: a group of well-trained assailants who take over the investment fund and force the employees with the power to carry out transactions to execute them on the spot.

Next comes the police investigation, this time led by a gambling-addicted and somewhat cocky cop. I didn't like his character very much. Everyone must be a suspect, because the thieves knew how everything worked, so surely someone on the inside was involved. In each episode, the plot thickens, which is the intention of the story, to make us wonder what the hell is going on, because it seems that the MI5 secret service is also investigating or perhaps involved.

Sophie Turner handles the pressure well and makes a good impression in this miniseries, in which she plays the lead role. Her character is called Zara Dunne and she works at an investment fund. She is a very intelligent woman, but she has her problems, she is not taken seriously, and she suffers from frustrations in life. She does not get along with her mother, who is an old woman who works as a nurse in a psychiatric hospital and is also a bitch, but, on the other hand, Zoe is not exactly a saint either.

She gets caught up in the whole complex plot of the robbery, which we quickly discover and which is shown to us in several flashbacks. I liked her performance, although I also think she has changed quite a bit. The actress has been working a lot, in some projects better than others, but it's clear that she doesn't want to be typecast forever as Sansa Stark, even though it was the role that launched her to fame and will be linked to her forever. By the way, a series about Lara Croft is in the works and she will be the lead. I think she'll do well, although she probably won't escape criticism from fans of the video game.

Archie Madekwe plays Luke, Zoe's coworker. I don't like the character; he's a whiner, but he's not that likable either; he's actually just another jerk. I think the actor does a good job; that's just how the character is. The one I didn't like so much was Jacob Fortune-Lloyd as Detective Covaci. I wasn't convinced by him as a cop tormented by his gambling addiction.

The supervillains of the heist were fine, including actor Andrew Howard, who has played the villain in many stories; his son of a bitch face helps. In these gangs of thieves, there's always one who's pretty crazy. It's a cliché in these kinds of stories, and this time, the paranoid guy who's lost his mind is this guy.

Who is behind all this? The robbery shakes up the financial system and even political leaders are screwed. To find out who is the mastermind behind all this and what their intentions are, you have to watch it until the end.

Es un thriller sobre un atraco financiero, y el primer episodio es muy bueno, se pasa volando y mantiene la tensión durante todo el metraje. El segundo episodio también me convenció para verla entera.

Ahora bien, los tres primeros episodios y la mitad del cuarto son los que más me han gustado, porque a partir de algunas cosas que suceden en el cuarto episodio, a pesar de mantener el interés por saber quién demonios está detrás de todo, es hacia el final donde, en mi opinión, se queda corto en varios aspectos. Los dos últimos episodios no están mal; tienen su parte de tensión y acción para cerrar la trama, pero quizá yo esperaba un final diferente.

Sigue siendo un producto que ofrece entretenimiento. Si te gustan las historias sobre robos y el misterio de descubrir, junto con los protagonistas, quién lo organizó. En este caso, el robo no es a un banco, sino un robo muy bien planeado a un fondo de inversión que maneja el dinero de millones de personas para sus pensiones. La ejecución del robo en el primer episodio es excelente, pero no es algo nuevo. Utiliza los códigos habituales: un grupo de asaltantes bien entrenados que se apoderan del fondo de inversión y obligan a los empleados con poder para realizar transacciones a ejecutarlas allí mismo.

A continuación viene la investigación policial, esta vez dirigida por un policía adicto al juego y algo engreído. No me gustó mucho su personaje. Todo el mundo debe ser sospechoso, porque los ladrones sabían cómo funcionaba todo, por lo que seguramente alguien de dentro estaba involucrado. En cada episodio, la trama se complica más, que es la intención de la historia, para hacernos preguntarnos qué diablos está pasando, porque parece que el servicio secreto MI5 también está investigando o quizás involucrado.

Es una mujer muy inteligente, pero tiene sus problemas, no la toman en serio y sufre frustraciones en la vida. No se lleva bien con su madre, que es una vieja que trabaje de enfermera en un psiquiátrico y tambien es una hija de puta, pero, por otra parte, Zoe tampoco es precisamente una santa.

Se ve envuelta en toda la compleja trama del robo, que descubrimos rápidamente y que se nos muestra en varios flashbacks. Me gustó su interpretación, aunque también la veo bastante cambiada. La actriz ha estado trabajando mucho, en algunos proyectos mejor que en otros, pero está claro que no quiere que la encasillen para siempre como Sansa Stark, aunque fue el papel que la lanzó a la fama y que estará vinculado a ella para siempre. Por cierto, se está preparando una serie sobre Lara Croft y ella será la protagonista. Creo que lo hará bien, aunque seguramente no escapará a las críticas de los fans del videojuego.
