Is badminton always like this?
Diego San José has created another great miniseries, once again in collaboration with Elena Trape. Both had already done a great job with the miniseries Celeste (here is my review: https://peakd.com/hive-166847/@jcrodriguez/celeste-or-serie-review ), and I also loved their three miniseries about Juan, which I also reviewed at the time.
Even watching the trailer, you can see that the creators are once again betting on a protagonist who can be included in the list of frustrated people, because life has treated them badly and perhaps they took a different path than they imagined when they were young. It's one of those stories that touches our hearts. Among the funny situations that arise, it's actually a story with shocking twists and turns. When a story makes me feel bad, it hurts me, it wins me over completely, and that's what happened here.
I knew nothing about badminton, I know absolutely nothing about the sport, since it's played with rackets, it's like a variation of tennis. I don't know and I don't care. Do any of you who read me play badminton? I don't think it's a very popular sport or one that generates a lot of money. Perhaps it's a high-level sport in some countries. The series mentions Asian countries, where apparently the toughest athletes in the sport are found, so surely in other parts of the world it's a sport with many followers.
Although the story takes place in the world of badminton, it's not a series in which we'll see intense matches of the sport. On the contrary, I loved the creators' decision not to show the young co-star in an intense match, facing her rivals, intense stares, etc. There's none of that. No matches are shown, only the before and after. Because this is a story that focuses on the personal drama of its protagonists.
Qué gran miniserie ha creado Diego San José, una vez más en colaboración con Elena Trape. Ambos ya habían hecho un gran trabajo con la miniserie Celeste (aquí está mi reseña: https://peakd.com/hive-166847/@jcrodriguez/celeste-or-serie-review ), y también me habían encantado sus tres miniseries sobre Juan, que también reseñé en su momento.
Incluso viendo el tráiler, se nota que los creadores vuelven a apostar por un protagonista que puede incluirse en la lista de personas frustradas, porque la vida les ha tratado mal y quizá tomaron un camino diferente al que imaginaban cuando eran jóvenes. Es una de esas historias que nos llegan al corazón. Entre las situaciones divertidas que se producen, en realidad es una historia con giros y vueltas impactantes. Cuando una historia me hace sentir mal, me hace daño, me conquista por completo, y eso es lo que ha pasado aquí.
No sabía nada de bádminton, no sé absolutamente nada de ese deporte, ya que se juega con raquetas, es como una variante del tenis. No lo sé y no me importa. ¿Alguno de los que me leéis juega al bádminton? No creo que sea un deporte muy popular ni que genere mucho dinero. Quizás sea un deporte de alto nivel en algunos países. En la serie se mencionan países asiáticos, donde aparentemente se encuentran los atletas más duros de ese deporte, así que seguramente en otras partes del mundo sea un deporte con muchos seguidores.
Aunque la historia se desarrolla en el mundo del bádminton, no es una serie en la que veremos intensos partidos de este deporte. Al contrario, me encantó la decisión de los creadores de no mostrar a la joven coprotagonista en un partido intenso, en el que se enfrenta a sus rivales, miradas intensas, etc. No hay nada de eso. No se muestran partidos, solo el antes y el después. Porque esta es una historia que se centra en el drama personal de sus protagonistas.
To portray this drama, the creator has once again turned to that monster of acting known as Javier Cámara. What he does here is break our hearts. What a performance. His character, Joserra, is heartbreaking. As a young man, he participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He reached the peak of his passion, but human demons took away what was most sacred to him. Now his life is a complete disaster. A physical education teacher, expelled from the Spanish Badminton Federation, fighting a consuming addiction and, at the same time, devastated, reduced to nothing by the terrible events of the past.
I haven't seen the other nominees for the Foque Award for Best Actor in a Television Series, but for me, Javier Cámara should be the winner. He is fabulous throughout the series and there are a couple of scenes at the end that are heartbreaking. He is accompanied by actress Carla Quilez, who is now 17 and has been a professional teenager since I saw her in the movie La Maternal (my review here), and I assured you then that she has an extraordinary future in acting. It's a shame she's not nominated for the Forque Awards, because she does a great job alongside Javier Cámara.
As I've said many times, life isn't all sunshine and rainbows, and as much as you want to fool yourself with motivational quotes and all that nonsense, the reality is that life is going to deal you some very hard blows. That's why I value these series that show our fragilities, the traumas that torment us, and the internal struggles that sometimes cannot be won. Bravo for this miniseries that has touched my soul.

Para retratar este drama, el creador ha vuelto a recurrir a ese monstruo de la interpretación llamado Javier Cámara. Lo que hace aquí es rompernos el corazón. Menuda interpretación. Su personaje, Joserra, es desgarrador. De joven, participó en los Juegos Olímpicos de Barcelona 1992. Alcanzó la cima de su pasión, pero los demonios humanos le arrebataron lo más sagrado para él. Ahora su vida es un completo desastre. Profesor de educación física, expulsado de la Federación Española de Bádminton, luchando contra una adicción que lo consume y, al mismo tiempo, destrozado, convertido en mierda por los terribles acontecimientos del pasado.
No he visto a los demás nominados al premio Foque al mejor actor de serie de televisión, pero para mí, Javier Cámara debería ser el ganador. Está fabuloso durante toda la serie y hay un par de escenas al final que son desgarradoras. Le acompaña la actriz Carla Quilez, que ahora tiene 17 años y es una adolescente profesional desde que la vi en la película La Maternal (mi opinión aquí), y ya os aseguré entonces que tiene un futuro extraordinario en la interpretación. Es una pena que no esté nominada a los Premios Forque, porque hace un gran trabajo junto a Javier Cámara.
Como he dicho muchas veces, la vida no es todo sol y arcoíris, y por mucho que quieras engañarte a ti mismo con citas motivacionales y todas esas tonterías, la realidad es que la vida te va a dar algunos golpes muy duros. Por eso valoro estas series que muestran nuestras fragilidades, los traumas que nos atormentan y las luchas internas que a veces no se pueden ganar. Bravo por esta miniserie que me ha llegado al alma.

En la vida nos pasan muchas cosas, y muchas son durísimas, sobre todo están ahí para crecer y fortalecernos, aprender un mensaje y seguir adelante. Hay cosas buenas claro que si pero mucho se aprende a los golpes y si que hay golpes terribles.
Parece ser una miniserie que toca temas reales, aunque no todo el mundo sea deportista, sino que me refiero a lo que uno pasa en la vida, dramas, dolores, pérdidas, fracasos. Recuerda... hay cosas buenas y debemos enfocarnos en ellas.

Muy pocas cosas buenas, quizás los placeres básicos, comer, sexo, etc, el resto es una vida llena de mierda por todas partes, pero es lo que toco y hay es que sobrevivir para ningún fin, solo el reproducirnos como especie, porque al final a todos nos van a comer los gusano, entonces me pregunto ¿fortalecernos para que?

La vida no puede romantizarse. Simplemente por vivir todo es un proceso, hay cosas que son duras y otras fáciles. Cada ser humano vive su propia experiencia.
En ese aspecto, compartimos una opinión común y, sobre todo, de gusto en series o películas. Me voy con esa parte en el cierre de la reseña.
