Hello everyone, fellow fans of good stories, I hope you're having a great time today. This time I want to share my personal opinions on an incredible animated film. I recently watched it again with my nephews and wow, I forgot to tell you how great it is... today we're going to talk about: Transformers One. Seriously, you won't believe this. Look, let's be honest, after so many years of Transformers movies, my expectations were, how can I say it?, rock bottom, especially after seeing those first trailers that looked kind of... childish? I was already preparing for the worst... but wow! They really did a great job, they made a great Transformers movie, I mean, maybe it's the best one I've seen in a while from the franchise, no joke. Remember how we always complained about the live-action movies?

Like, yeah, the explosions are cool, but who are these giant robots? Why should we care? I always felt like the humans were the main character and the Transformers were like the loud, bright background… well, forget all that, Transformers One turns that all on its head… it’s about the Transformers. Finally! We’re on Cybertron, long before the war, before Optimus was Optimus and Megatron was Megatron… there are basically no humans anywhere to be seen, and let me tell you, that is an incredible breath of fresh air, this origins movie is all about them. We meet Optimus as Orion Pax, voiced by Chris Hemsworth (who surprisingly fits him perfectly), and Megatron as D-16, played by the genius Brian Tyree Henry… people, their relationship is at the heart of the entire movie. They start out as worker robots, basically miners in this super rigid, classist Cybertronian society where only the elite can transform.

They're like brothers, true soul mates. Orion is the idealist, a bit of a rebel and dreamer who wants something more, while D-16 is more practical, he believes in the system but is super protective and ambitious in his own way... their dynamic, their connection, feels so real, you truly believe in their friendship, that dream they share of making things better... and seeing how they get along, knowing how they end up afterwards... adds a layer of tragedy that hits really hard. It's not just "good vs. bad" anymore; you understand why everything goes to hell, even if you don't agree with the decisions they make. It has that classic "brothers become enemies" vibe, of course, it's a story we've seen before in some form, but here it's told with so much heart, I didn't expect to connect emotionally with the feelings of robots, but here we are!

Hola a todos, amigos fanáticos de las buenas historias, espero que estén genial hoy, en esta ocasión les quiero compartir mis opiniones personales de una película animada increíble, hace poco la volví a ver con mis sobrinos y wow, se me había olvidado comentarles lo genial que es.. hoy hablaremos de: Transformers One. En serio, no me lo van a creer, miren, seamos honestos, después de tantos años de películas de Transformers, mis expectativas estaban, ¿cómo decirlo?, por el piso, más que nada después de ver esos primeros tráilers que se veían medio… ¿infantiles? Ya me estaba preparando para lo peor.. pero, ¡wow!, de verdad que se lucieron, hicieron una película de Transformers genial, o sea, capaz que es la mejor que veo desde hace tiempo sobre la franquicia, no es broma. ¿Se acuerdan cómo siempre nos quejábamos de las películas live-action?

Como que sí, las explosiones están chéveres, pero ¿quiénes son estos robots gigantes? ¿Por qué deberían importarnos? Siempre sentía que los humanos eran los protagonistas y los Transformers eran como el fondo ruidoso y brillante.. pues, olvídense de todo eso, Transformers One le da una vuelta completa a todo.. se trata sobre los Transformers. ¡Por fin! Estamos en Cybertron, mucho antes de la guerra, antes de que Optimus fuera Optimus y Megatron fuera Megatron.. básicamente no hay humanos por ningún lado, y déjenme decirles que eso es un respiro de aire fresco increíble, esta película sse centra en sus orígenes.. conocemos a Optimus como Orion Pax, con la voz de Chris Hemsworth (que sorpresivamente le queda perfecta), y a Megatron como D-16, interpretado por el genio de Brian Tyree Henry.. gente, la relación entre ellos es el corazón de toda la película.

Empiezan como robots obreros, básicamente mineros en esta sociedad cybertroniana súper rígida y clasista donde solo la élite puede transformarse, son como hermanos, amigos del alma de verdad, Orion es el idealista, medio rebelde y soñador que quiere algo más, mientras que D-16 es más práctico, cree en el sistema pero es súper protector y ambicioso a su manera.. su dinámica, su conexión, se siente tan real, te crees de verdad su amistad, ese sueño que comparten de mejorar las cosas.. y ver cómo se llevan, sabiendo en qué terminan después… le añade una capa de tragedia que pega durísimo. Ya no es solo "el bueno contra el malo"; entiendes por qué todo se va al carajo, aunque no estés de acuerdo con las decisiones que toman, tiene esa onda clásica de "hermanos que se vuelven enemigos", claro, es una historia que ya vimos de alguna forma, pero aquí la cuentan con tanto corazón, no esperaba conectar emocionalmente con los sentimientos de unos robots, pero aquí estamos!

And the visual part? It's incredible! Forget that sometimes chaotic look of live-action movies, this animation is beautiful... it's super vibrant, full of color, expressive, the character designs are clearly distinguishable - you finally know who's who in the middle of a fight! Cybertron looks spectacular - giant, metallic, but it also has those weird but beautiful, almost organic parts... the lighting, the textures... seriously, it seems like a world that feels real, with a history, it seemed like Pixar had taken Transformers, those expressions look great, you feel the emotion, you really do. And the action scenes, they are great!

They are clear, dynamic, creative and keep you glued to your seat... there's a sequence at the beginning, in the mines, and I swear that my heart loved it, it is super well done; the action never gets you dizzy or confused, it always supports the story and on top of that it looks spectacular... the animation is by ILM, and that really shows, the way they build the world is also great. They explain the basics of Cybertron, the Primes, the Matrix of Leadership, all that vibe, but without it feeling like a boring history class or having a ton of data thrown at you... it's embedded into the story in a super natural way, you understand what's going on, what society is like, the mythology.

It even intelligently takes up some ideas from Bay's movies that weren't as popular... like the Matrix and Sentinel Prime... but here they make them make sense within this story, seeing the origins of things like Starscream's relationship with Megatron, or why it's important to transform on Cybertron... honestly, it feels much more rewarding than anything they've shown us before in cinema. Now, is it perfect? Mmm, let's see, not entirely... as I was saying, the main story of the friendship that breaks up isn't that super original, it doesn't invent anything new, the most important twists you can see coming from afar... it's quite predictable in that aspect.

¿Y la parte visual? es increíble! Olvídense de ese look a veces caótico de las películas live-action, esta animación es hermosa.. es súper vibrante, llena de color, expresiva, los diseños de los personajes se distinguen bien – ¡por fin sabes quién es quién en medio de una pelea! Cybertron se ve espectacular – gigante, metálico, pero también tiene esas partes como raras pero bonitas, casi orgánicas.. la iluminación, las texturas... en serio, parece un mundo que se siente real, con historia, parecía como si Pixar hubiera agarrado Transformers, se ven geniales esas expresiones, sientes la emoción, de verdad. ¿Y las escenas de acción, son buenísimas!

Son claras, dinámicas, creativas y te mantienen pegado al asiento.. hay una secuencia al principio, en las minas, y les juro que el corazón que me encantó, está súper bien hecha; la acción nunca te marea ni te confunde, siempre apoya la historia y encima se ve espectacular.. la animación es de ILM, y eso se nota muchísimo, la forma en que construyen el mundo también está genial. Te explican lo básico de Cybertron, los Primes, la Matriz de Liderazgo, toda esa onda, pero sin que se sienta como una clase de historia aburrida o que te tiren un montón de datos encima.. está metido en la historia de forma súper natural, entiendes qué está pasando, cómo es la sociedad, la mitología.

Incluso retoma de forma inteligente algunas ideas de las pelis de Bay que no gustaron tanto… como la Matriz y Sentinel Prime.. pero aquí hacen que tengan sentido dentro de esta historia, ver los orígenes de cosas como la relación de Starscream con Megatron, o por qué es importante transformarse en Cybertron… la verdad, se siente mucho más gratificante que cualquier cosa que nos hayan mostrado antes en el cine. Ahora, ¿es perfecta? Mmm, a ver, no del todo.. como les decía, la historia principal de la amistad que se rompe no es que sea súper original, no inventa nada nuevo, los giros más importantes te los ves venir de lejos.. es bastante predecible en ese aspecto.

And maybe, the change from D-16 to Megatron could have had a little more development, it felt kind of fast at one point, although thinking about it, it was like they were already showing you things from the beginning... it works, yes, but maybe with about 10-15 more minutes for that transition, it would have hit even harder, also, B-127 (our Bumblebee, before being Bumblebee) is basically the one who brings the humor... he's like this super restless, kind of chaotic character, voiced by Keegan-Michael Key, he made me laugh a couple of times, I won't deny it, but sometimes his energy was at most compared to the more serious tone that was being built on the other hand, it's not serious, eh, just something I noticed.

Okay, and here’s a SUPER important warning, seriously, please listen to me on this: If you have the chance, watch it in the original English version with the original voices… I’ve seen it around the internet and friends have told me they’ve seen it dubbed in Spanish, and it seems like it’s… complicated… that it’s quite distracting in places, with some voices that sound very amateurish or that simply don’t fit the character, and it totally takes you out of key moments, whether they’re emotional or pure action. The English cast – Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1, Laurence Fishburne, Jon Hamm, even Steve Buscemi! – are all amazing and really bring these characters to life. So yeah, original language if you can… trust me on this, but really, those are just minor details, if we watch the whole movie.

Y capaz, tal vez el cambio de D-16 a Megatron pudo tener un poquito más de desarrollo, se sintió medio rápido en un punto, aunque pensándolo bien, como que ya te iban mostrando cositas desde el principio.. funciona, sí, pero quizás con unos 10-15 minutitos más para esa transición, hubiera pegado todavía más fuerte, además, B-127 (nuestro Bumblebee, antes de ser Bumblebee) es básicamente el que pone la cuota de humor.. es como este personaje súper inquieto, medio caótico, con la voz de Keegan-Michael Key, me sacó un par de risas, no lo niego, pero a veces su energía era como mucho comparada con el tono más serio que se estaba armando por otro lado, no es grave, eh, solo algo que noté.

Okay, y aquí va un aviso SÚPER importante, en serio háganme caso con esto: Si tienen la oportunidad, véanla en la versión original en inglés con las voces originales.. he visto por ahí en internet y me han contado amigos que la vieron doblada al español, y parece que está… complicado el asunto.. que distrae bastante en algunas partes, con algunas voces que suenan como muy amateur o que simplemente no pegan con el personaje, y te saca totalmente de momentos clave, ya sean de emoción o de pura acción, el elenco en inglés – Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson como Elita-1, Laurence Fishburne, Jon Hamm, ¡hasta Steve Buscemi! – son todos unos cracks y de verdad le dan vida a estos personajes. Así que sí, idioma original si pueden.. confíen en mí con esto, pero la verdad, esos son detallitos nomás, si vemos la película completa.

This movie just works, it took my expectations that were rock-bottom low and blew them out of the water. It felt like the movie Transformers fans had been waiting for years, it has heart, it has humor that almost always works, it looks incredible, the action gets you excited, and most importantly, it treats the characters and their entire story with respect but can still be understood by anyone new to this animated universe, it’s fun, it’s surprisingly emotional, and it left me truly excited for what’s to come in this animated universe. You can clearly see that they’re building everything for something to continue, and for the first time in a long time with Transformers, I really can’t wait to see what’s next. So, my final verdict... I give Transformers One a solid 9/10.

Obviously, it’s not a super deep film festival movie, but for what it is –an animated adventure, science fiction, origin story– it more than delivers, it’s spectacular, it’s proof that you can make a movie that yes, is designed to sell toys, but that also has characters with real depth, that touches your emotional fiber and that has artistic quality… it made me feel like a kid again, excited watching giant robots that transform, but it also gave me a story with content, with substance… and well, that’s all for today, tell me if you’ve seen it and what you thought, take care! Esta película simplemente funciona, agarró mis expectativas, que estaban bajísimas, y las reventó, las mandó por las nubes.. se sintió como la película que los fans de Transformers llevábamos años esperando, tiene corazón, tiene humor que casi siempre funciona, se ve increíble, la acción te emociona y, lo más importante, trata a los personajes y toda su historia con respeto, pero igual la puede entender cualquiera que recién llega, es divertida, es sorprendentemente emotiva, y me dejó de verdad emocionado por lo que pueda venir en este universo animado. Se nota clarito que están armando todo para que siga, y por primera vez en mucho tiempo con Transformers, de verdad tengo ganas de ver qué sigue.. así que, mi veredicto final... le doy a Transformers One un sólido 9/10.

Obvio, no es una película súper profunda de festival de cine, pero para lo que es –una peli animada de aventura, ciencia ficción, contando los orígenes– cumple con creces, espectacular, es la prueba de que se puede hacer una película que sí, está pensada para vender juguetes, pero que también tenga personajes con profundidad real, que te toque la fibra emocional y que tenga calidad artística.. me hizo sentir como niño otra vez, emocionado viendo robots gigantes que se transforman, pero también me dio una historia con contenido, con sustancia.. y bueno, esto es todo por hoy, cuéntenme si ya la vieron y qué les pareció, cuidense mucho!
