Mini Series Review: The Seven Dials Mystery (2026) : A Classic Murder Mystery with a Modern Touch

It had been a long time since I last watched anything. But yesterday felt like the perfect night to search for something and finally relax watching a movie.

I chose something relatively short and intriguing. A 3-episode mini series on Netflix, released in 2026: The Seven Dials Mystery, based on the 1929 novel by Agatha Christie.

Before you continue reading...

If you deeply love Agatha Christie and expect absolute faithfulness to her books, this adaptation might not fully satisfy you.

But if you’re in the mood for a classic-style mystery with a cinematic twist, keep reading to make your final choice :)

Title: Agatha Christie's Seven Dials
Released January 2026 (Netflix Production)
Genre: Whodunnit - Crime - Drama - Mystery - Thriller

Mia McKenna-Bruce (Bundle Brent)
Helena Bonham Carter (Lady Caterham)
Martin Freeman (Superintendent Battle)

Story: > In 1925, a country house party prank turns deadly. Lady Eileen "Bundle" Brent investigates the chilling murder plot. Lady Caterham and Superintendent Battle assist in solving the country house mystery that changes Bundle's life.

How It All Begins

The story opens in a very mysterious way.

You’re immediately thrown into a moment where something very wrong happens to someone, a scene that grabs your attention from the start. And just when you begin to process it… everything shifts.

Suddenly, the story moves to a lively English country house party, elegant, social, fun, with love vibes on the air.
But this is no ordinary gathering.

This party becomes the starting point of everything.

As a viewer, you begin to wonder:

Where is this going?
Who is going to die?
What connects all these people?

And that’s when the twists begin.

If you’ve read books by Agatha Christie, you’ll recognize her signature storytelling:
I had read quite a few when I was younger

Information revealed little by little.
Clues hidden in plain sight
Characters that seem innocent, but are they really?

The series follows this pattern quite well. Each episode adds another layer, another secret, another reason to suspect everyone.

Even thought I did enjoyed watching these 3 50 minutes episodes, one thing I couldn’t help but think:

Did it really need to be three episodes?

The story could have easily worked as a tight 2-hour film.

So while it may feel slightly stretched at times, it also allows the mystery to breathe.

In Imdb, the score is 6.2/10 and I pretty much agree with it.
I was not super excited, but I dont regret watching it.
(Despite a few power cuts of yesterday, due to bad weather, I did not feel sleepy, I was really anxious to find out more about Whodunnit and I was overall left with good feelings about it)

What you will be left with..

  • a classic murder mystery atmosphere
  • a series of engaging twists
  • and a story that keeps you guessing until the end

Despite mixed reviews, I would recommend it, especially if you enjoy old-school mysteries.

If you’ve already watched it, I’d love to know (but please do not include spoilers)
Did you guess the ending? Or did it surprise you?
