¿De qué se trata esta Película?

Sin ánimos de hacer espóiler les diré de manera general de que se trata la historia, ya que la idea es que ustedes puedan valorar esta cinta por ustedes mismos, y tener sus propias apreciaciones de la misma. Janiyah representa a mi modo ver, representa a todas esas mujeres que les toco ser padres y madres al mismo tiempo, y luchan cada día por sus hijos, dando lo mejor de sí, a costa de mucho sacrificio y trabajos mal pagados. La historia de esta mujer abnegada es un claro llamado a la reflexión que como sociedad debemos hacer para que lleguen las ayudas sociales donde deben llegar.

What is this movie about?

Without wanting to make a spoiler, I will tell you in a general way what the story is about, since the idea is that you can evaluate this film for yourselves, and have your own appreciation of it. Janiyah represents in my opinion, represents all those women who have to be parents and mothers at the same time, and fight every day for their children, giving the best of themselves, at the cost of much sacrifice and poorly paid jobs. The story of this self-sacrificing woman is a clear call to reflection that we as a society must make so that social aid reaches where it should reach.

La historia inicia con Janiyah preparando todo para llevar a su hija a la escuela, cuidando cada detalle y a la vez apresurándose para no llegar tarde a la escuela, mientras tiene que lidiar con las amenazas de su casera que la sacara del departamento si no paga el alquiler, mientras va camino a su trabajo con mis cosas en su cabeza y viendo la manera de conseguir que le adelanten el pago de su cheque, su hija le dice que sus compañeros de clases se burlan porque ella no pagó la comida de este mes en la escuela, y eso la hace sentir mal, su madre le promete que irá al banco a sacar el dinero para pagar su almuerzo que no se preocupe por eso.

The story opens with Janiyah getting everything ready to take her daughter to school, taking care of every detail and at the same time rushing to avoid being late for school, while having to deal with threats from her landlady that she will be kicked out of the apartment if she doesn't pay the rent, as she is on her way to work with things on her mind and figuring out how to get her paycheck paid in advance, her daughter tells her that her classmates are teasing her because she didn't pay for lunch this month at school, and that makes her feel bad, her mother promises her that she will go to the bank to get the money to pay for her lunch and not to worry about it.

Demostrando así que ama a su hija por encima de todo, ya que ese dinero representa lo único que tiene en ese momento, seguidamente llega a su trabajo donde es maltratada por su jefe, quien le reclama que llego retardada y sin ninguna consideración le dice que no le puede adelantar pago de nada y más bien le dice que se ponga a trabajar.

Ella pendiente que debe ir a sacar el dinero del banco recibe una llamada de la escuela, porque su hija fue atendida por la trabajadora social del colegio la cual le pareció que ella sufría de negligencia por parte de su madre y amenaza con denunciarla con servicios familiares, la niña es llevada al hospital, ya que sufre de convulsiones y ella es separada de su hija, para resolver este problema pide permiso a su jefe, quien le da solo 30 minutos para regresar, sin saber que el trayecto se encontraría con una larga cola en el banco lo cual le impidió sacar sus 40 dólares, al ir a buscar las medicinas de su hija a la casa, encontró todas sus cosas esparcidas en la calle, a pesar de que le suplico a la casera por unos días para pagarle y esta se negó, al ir camino a su trabajo choca a un oficial de policía quien la agrede y amenaza con hacerle daño, y otra policía llega y se encarga del caso y le pone una multa y le confisca su carro por tener la licencia vencida.

A este punto yo estaba más desesperada que la misma protagonista, no podía creer todos lo que estaba sufriendo y lo desalmada que eran todas las personas a su alrededor que no hacían nada por ella, no mostraban ninguna empatía con su situación, cosa que sucede en la vida real a veces nos hacemos caso omiso a los problemas de los demás sin saber que nos puede pasar eso a cualquiera de nosotros, ella sigue teniendo más infortunios ese día, que termina por explotar y de la peor manera, tanto así que pone su libertad y vida en riesgo, para salir de esta mala racha y poderle brindar a su hija una mejor vida, solo que ya será muy tarde y la única ilusión y motivo de lucha se extinguirá y ya no habrá vuelta atrás.

Esta película realmente me dejo muy mal, llore con la historia de esta mujer que solo quería que su hija estuviera bien, me toco muy de cerca la actuación de Tarjai Henson, al igual que la actriz Sherri Sheperd quien interpreta a Nicole, la gerente del banco, la primera que se solidarizó con ella, este film aunque tiene un final triste nos deja una gran lección, que sería que jamás debemos llevar cargas a cuestas que no podamos cargar solos, cuando necesitemos pedir ayuda dejemos el orgullo a un lado y hagámoslo, ya que si hay gente que les importaremos y estoy segura de que nos darán una mano amiga en momentos de oscuridad.
