En los últimos dÃas he visto una gran emoción por la nueva pelÃcula de Superman. Todos querÃan ver qué tal lo harÃa el nuevo actor, incluso de en mi paÃs la emoción de muchos fue doble por ver a una reconocida actriz venezolana en la gran pantalla.
Yo me mantuve al margen. No me hice mucho spoiler antes de verla, tampoco me generé expectativas. Estaba simplemente expectante. Asà que cuando fui al cine el domingo pasado a verla, no sabÃa bien qué esperar. Pero ahora puedo compartirles mi opinión completa incluyendo spoilers
In recent days, I've seen a huge amount of excitement surrounding the new Superman movie. Everyone wanted to see how the new actor would do, even in my own country, many people's excitement was doubled by seeing a renowned Venezuelan actress on the big screen.
Honestly, I stayed away from all of it. I didn't saw many spoilers before seeing it, nor did I build up any expectations. I was simply waiting to see what would happen. So when I went to the theater last Sunday to finally watch it, not really knowing what to expect. But now I can share my full opinion with you, including spoilers.

Kal El ya ha llegado a la Tierra. Ya está consciente de quién es, de dónde viene, asà como del gran poder que posee. De hecho, ya el niño criado en una apartada y tranquila granja en Kansas, a quien llamaron Clark Kent, ahora es un joven periodista que lleva una doble vida, pues es también el gran Superman.
La historia dirigida por James Gunn nos muestra sus primeros años con la capa, cuando aún era un héroe bastante errático pero lleno de buenas intenciones. Es de esperarse puesto que es un simple novato que va improvisando sobre la marcha, guiándose por los buenos sentimientos y un mensaje (el único) de sus verdaderos padres. Ellos lo enviaron para servir a la humanidad, por tanto ese es su deber, o al menos eso creÃa... Superman deberá afrontar adversidades y enemigos formidables, como Lex Luthor, todo en medio de una crisis en su identidad, pues intenta comprender quién es realmente y porqué está allÃ

The story directed by James Gunn shows us his early years with the cape, when he was still a rather erratic but well-intentioned hero. Creo que iré directo a responder la pregunta de todos: ¿Es este nuevo Superman mejor que el de Henry Cavill? La respuesta corta es no, pero hay que tener presente que la interpretación del personaje en general es completamente distinta. Éste Superman es más inocente, impulsivo y jovial, pone por encima el bienestar de otros antes que sà mismo y también, por encima de las consecuencias de sus acciones. Además en medio de su crisis existencial no se entrega completamente a ese sufrimiento, sino que intenta mantenerse positivo mientras lo enfrenta. Aunque el Superman de Cavill también se estaba conociendo a sà mismo y su verdadera identidad, era menos positivo puesto que muchas veces sus emociones menos placenteras le ganaban. También aunque buscaba el bienestar del mundo, era más consciente de las implicaciones de sus actos.
I think I'll go straight to answer everyone's question: Is this new Superman better than Henry Cavill's? The short answer is no, but keep in mind that the interpretation of the character in general is completely different. This Superman is more innocent, impulsive and jovial, he puts the well-being of others before himself and also, above the consequences of his actions. Furthermore, in the midst of his existential crisis, he does not completely surrender to that suffering, but tries to stay positive while facing it. Although Cavill's Superman was also getting to know himself and his true identity, he was less positive since many times his less pleasant emotions won over him. Also, although he sought the well-being of the world, he was more aware of the implications of his actions.
El enfoque de Snyder era más sombrÃo, llevando la ficción a elementos más realistas de lo que serÃa tener un súper hombre en nuestro mundo, lo cual no serÃa tan bonito como plantean los cómics. En cambio, el enfoque de Gunn es más jovial, mucho más parecido a esa idealización de los cómics y enfocándose más en la acción que en los problemas existenciales. Ambos mantienen la esencia del personaje, ya es cuestión de gustos decir cuál es mejor.
Personalmente, me gustan mucho más los enfoques serios, como el de Snyder, además de que Henry Cavill interpretó ese personaje a la perfección. Pero este nuevo Superman también interpretó exactamente lo que le fue dado, asà que el actor David Corenswet hizo un estupendo trabajo. La cuestión es que ésta interpretación me pareció demasiado inocente, muy ingenuo, y no me parece que por el hecho de que un personaje sea noble se debe ver como un idiota. Muchas de las decisiones que toma son insensatas y más por capricho, por lo que es la forma en la que abordaron el personaje lo que no me termina de convencer. No es enteramente malo, pero tampoco me parece un buen enfoque.
Snyder's approach was darker, taking the fiction into more realistic elements of what it would be like to have a super man in our world, which wouldn't be as beautiful as the comics portray. Gunn's approach, on the other hand, is more lighthearted, much more similar to the idealization of the comics and focusing more on action than existential problems. Both maintain the essence of the character; it's a matter of taste which is better.
Personally, I prefer the more serious approaches, like Snyder's, and Henry Cavill played that character perfectly. But this new Superman also played exactly what he was given, so actor David Corenswet did a fantastic job. The point is that this interpretation seemed too innocent, very naive, and I don't think that just because a character is noble should mean he's seen as an idiot. Many of the decisions he makes are foolish and more so on a whim, so it's the way they approached the character that doesn't quite convince me. It's not entirely bad, but I don't think it's a good approach either.
De resto de personajes y actuaciones puedo decir lo mismo. Quizás el más destacable sea Lex puesto que lograron transmitir el profundo narcisismo y falta de empatÃa del personaje, además de que el actor Nicholas Hoult es buenÃsimo, pero el personaje también tenÃa ciertos aspectos infantiles, como querer acabar con Superman solo por ser más poderoso que él. Pudieron darle otros elementos, como que genuinamente lo considerase una amenaza para la humanidad o que quisiera incluso corromperlo, pero al final se siente que su motivación es más un berrinche de niño mimado.
Por otra parte, la emoción venezolana de que aparece MarÃa Gabriela de FarÃa como la Ingeniera es desproporcionada a lo que realmente ofrece la actriz y el personaje. FarÃa no actúa mal, es decente, pero sólo eso. Una actuación normal, nada llamativa. En cuanto al personaje, es completamente innecesario. La trama puede transcurrir perfectamente bien si quitas a la Ingeniera aunque claro, esto no es culpa de la actriz. El personaje no aporta absolutamente nada más que unas lÃneas en español. Eso sÃ, el diseño de su poder está genial.
I can say the same about the rest of the characters and performances. Perhaps the most notable is Lex, since they managed to convey the character's deep narcissism and lack of empathy. The actor Nicholas Hoult is also excellent, but the character also had certain childish aspects, such as wanting to kill Superman just because he's more powerful than him. They could have given him other elements, such as genuinely considering him a threat to humanity or even wanting to corrupt him, but in the end, it feels like his motivation is more like a spoiled brat's tantrum.
On the other hand, the Venezuelan excitement at the appearance of MarÃa Gabriela de FarÃa as the Engineer is disproportionate to what the actress and the character actually offer. FarÃa doesn't act badly; she's decent, but that's all. A normal performance, nothing striking. As for the character, she's completely unnecessary. The plot could run perfectly well if you remove the Engineer, although, of course, this isn't the actress's fault. The character contributes absolutely nothing beyond a few lines in Spanish. However, the design of her power is actually really nice.
En cuanto al resto, Louis está bien, los compañeros de trabajo también. Los padres de Clark son afables y nobles, justamente representando los valores que inculcaron a su hijo. Linterna Verde está muchÃsimo mejor que la infame pelÃcula con Ryan Reynolds. Y Mr. Terrific es uno de los mejores personajes de la pelÃcula, aporta algo, es divertido y tiene personalidad.
¿Pero cuál me pareció el mejor? Krypto, un perro hecho con CGI que simplemente aparece haciendo lo que hace un perro, pero con superfuerza. Que esa sea lo mejor de la pelÃcula no habla muy bien del guión, y es que no, no es bueno. Por lo que mencioné antes y por el empeño de incluir paralelismos con la situación polÃtica actual, donde resulta demasiado evidente las inclinaciones polÃticas. Honestamente ese recurso me tiene harta, pues creo que no es necesario ser constantemente recordado la tensa situación que vivimos. Quisiera ir al cine a ver una pelÃcula que me distraiga completamente de la realidad, no que me lance unos 15 minutos de una discusión polÃtica entre Louis y Clark, y todo lo demás.
As for the rest, Louis is fine, as are her coworkers. Clark's parents are kind and noble, representing the values they instilled in their son. Green Lantern is far better than the infamous Ryan Reynolds film. And Mr. Terrific is one of the best characters in the film; he contributes something, is funny, and has personality.
But who did I think was the best? Krypto, a CGI dog who simply appears doing what a dog does, but with super strength. The fact that this is the best part of the film doesn't speak well of the script, and no, it's not good. Because of what I mentioned before and the insistence on including parallels with the current political situation, where political leanings are all too obvious. Honestly, that element is so overused that it's annoying, because I don't think it's necessary to be constantly reminded of the tense situation we're living in. I'd like to go to the movies to see a film that completely distracts me from reality, not one that gives me about 15 minutes of a political argument between Louis and Clark, and all the rest of it.
Además DC vuelve a caer en el mismo error de siempre, querer correr antes de caminar. Es decir, saturan la pelÃcula con personajes intentando abarcar tantas cosas en una sola pelÃcula que hace que se sienta inconexa. Ojalá se tomaran el tiempo de desarrollar cada personaje y cada historia como se deberÃa, en varias pelÃculas, aunque les tome años. Pero quizá asà nos darÃan historias mejor construidas y con mayor fluidez, no un popurrà de superhéroes solo porque sÃ.
Aparte Gunn aplicó la fórmula de Marvel a esta historia, lo que era de esperarse. Mucho color, CGI, escenas de acción, comedia y ese tono jovial que si bien es perfecto para Los Guardianes de la Galaxia, no es el adecuado para una historia de ésta franquicia. DC es más sombrÃo, más serio, y ese nunca ha sido el problema. El verdadero error es la falta de consistencia. En un momento adoptan una lÃnea narrativa increÃble y después la reinician completamente sin razón aparente. El dÃa en que dejen de apresurarse y estructuren lógicamente su universo cinematográfico es cuando de verdad podrán ser una buena franquicia.
Besides, DC falls back into the same old mistake: trying to run before they can walk. That is, they saturate the film with characters trying to cover so many things in a single film that it feels disjointed. I wish they'd take the time to develop each character and each story as they should, over multiple films, even if it takes years. But maybe that way they'd give us better-constructed, more fluid stories, not a superhero mashup just for the sake of it.
Aside from that, Gunn applied the Marvel formula to this story, which was to be expected. Lots of color, CGI, action scenes, comedy, and that lighthearted tone that, while perfect for Guardians of the Galaxy, isn't appropriate for a story in this franchise. DC is darker, more serious, and that's never been the problem. The real mistake is the lack of consistency. One moment they adopt an incredible narrative line and then completely reboot it for no apparent reason. The day they stop rushing and logically structure their cinematic universe is when they will truly be a good franchise.
Sin embargo, no puedo decir que esta pelÃcula es mala, para nada. Está bien en general. Resulta divertida, entretenida y visualmente la verdad el CGI está muy bien hecho y las escenas de acción resultan llamativas asà como emocionantes. Además, algo que me encantó fue la banda sonora, una perfecta combinación entre el leitmotiv clásico de Superman y elementos actuales.
Asà que si quieres ver algo entretenido es una buena opción, pero debo decir que no es una de las mejores pelÃculas de superhéroes que haya visto.
However, I can't say this movie is bad at all. It's fine overall. It's fun, entertaining, and visually, the CGI is really well done, and the action scenes are both eye-catching and exciting. Also, something I loved was the soundtrack, a perfect combination of the classic Superman leitmotif and modern elements.
So if you want to watch something entertaining, it's a good option, but I must say it's not one of the best superhero movies I've seen.

Con ese interior jamas superara a Henry Cavill 😂, los interiores le quedan bien es al buen muchachon de Cristopher Reed, en este aspecto pienso hay un retroceso en el personaje que afecta mucho al actor y considero fue una mala decision de Gunn el retroceder tanto en el aspecto en traje del personaje
En mi caso si tengo altas expectativas porque se masacro un universo anterior de peliculas para esto, entonces tiene que teer un gran impacto porque la apuesta es muy alta y note las cifras no acompañan de manera positiva este estreno, mucho que comentar sobre esto ultimo
El perrito me agrada jaja 😆 y me alegra haya sido entretenida 😃, a la final es un film familiar y que al menos cumpla con esto es muy positivo para las familias que van al cine a disfrutar de algo ligero, a la final esa es la gran masa de audiencia con prioridad a conquistar

Ciertamente después de abandonar por completo muchas otras pelÃculas, esta especie de reboot tiene mucha presión encima. Si logra estar a la expectativa general, no sé, pero realmente es una pelÃcula decente.
Y eso sÃ, es una pelÃcula muy familiar y ligera, para todo el mundo. A veces ver algo tan ligero, que no tengas que pensar demasiado, puede ser refrescante. Pero a mà me siguen encantando las historias más pesadas y oscuras xD
