Star Trek: Discovery Season 1, Episode 1, Movie review
How are you all? Today I am here with a new sci-fi series. When I started this series, I honestly didn't have much expectation. I had heard the name Star Trek before, and I had seen many shows of this series before; each one was different. As far as I remember, I watched Star Trek Speakcard. But I have never seen this new series before. The reason is very simple because I usually like to watch it in Hindi dubbing, and I have not found this series in Hindi dubbing anywhere, so I have not seen it. Suddenly,y today I typed the name of the movie and searched for Star Trek Discovery, I thought, let's see how it goes. But what I felt after finishing the first episode was actually a little different, a kind of "ok, this is not just anything ordinary" type feeling.

The movie starts very slowly, but weirdly, it didn't feel bad. Rather, it felt like a setup. The emptiness of space, the calm atmosphere, and the gradual introduction to the story all create a mood. Which made me want to watch this series even more.

The first people I see in the story are Michael Burnham and Captain Philippa Georgiou. They work on the USS Shenzhou ship. The captain is the captain of the USS Sanjay by clicking on the button. And Michael Burnham is number one; their relationship seemed important to me at the beginning. It's not just an officer and a captain, it's a relationship of trust, where one understands the other.
I have to say a little more about the character of Michael Burnham. Because my attention was there throughout the episode. He has received training like a Vulcan, so he wants to think about everything logically. But the problem is, he is not a robot. He has emotions and doubts, which repeatedly put him in difficult situations.

Many times it seemed that he was very logical, and sometimes it seemed that he was suppressing his feelings too much. The tension between these two made him interesting.
I found Captain Georgiou to be a very calm person. He is not loud, not dramatic, but when he speaks or makes decisions, it is understood that he is experienced. His presence brings stability to the screen. And his relationship with Burnham adds a lot of emotional layers to the story.

Another character that is slowly understood is Saru. At first, he may seem a little timid, but later I realise that he is actually a very sensitive and alert character. He senses danger in advance. Although his behaviour seems strange at first, later I realise that it is his strength.
The main event of the story begins with a mysterious signal and a hint of the Klingons. Here, a tension is created, but everything is not shown at once. It is built slowly. I think it was a good decision, because it creates curiosity.

The presence of the Klingons acts as a warning from the beginning. Not much is shown, but from the little that is shown, it is understood that a big conflict is coming.
I have to say something different about the visuals. The space scenes are very beautiful. The set design, lighting, and technology inside the ship—everything looks very clean and futuristic. Sometimes I would stop and just watch the visuals, because they looked really beautiful.
One thing I liked was that they didn't overact or overdramatise everything. Many sci-fi series show a lot at the beginning, but here the story is gradually revealed.

Even though the action wasn't much, what there was was just right. That's what I thought. But I thought the focus of this episode was on creating characters and building the foundation of the story. Because it's a long series and the series has been beautifully arranged.
In this series, there is a curiosity that remains towards the end. "It feels like the real story is about to begin." This is a good sign, because if the first episode doesn't make you want to watch the next one, then the series doesn't work. But this series has done that in the first episode, and if you don't have the curiosity to watch the second episode at the end, you won't understand anything.

Personally speaking, this episode didn't pull me in all at once, but it slowly pulled me in. It felt a little slow at the beginning, but by the end, I realised that it was setting up a long journey.
I'm still not completely clear about Michael Burnham's character, but that seems to be the purpose. He has been made in such a way that his decisions will be important in the next episodes. Now let's see what happens in the next episode. I will share with you, of course.
Overall, it seems like a decent, strong start to me. Not perfect, but promising.

If I were to rate it, I would say:
- Story: 8.5/10
- Character: 9/10
- Visual: 9.5/10
- Overall feel: 9/10
- Release Date:- 24 September 2017
My friends, one last thing I will say is that this is a beginning that slowly wants to lead to something big. Now it is a matter of seeing how much the next episodes can maintain this momentum. Of course, I will try, and I think you will like expressing my feelings.
Till then,n everyone stay well and stay healthy, thank you all.
