Hola de nuevo! Hoy les traigo un post bastante genial, esta vez de una nueva reseña de una película que vi hace poco, cuyo nombre es El Incidente. Hace poco estuve con mi novio, el cual me acompaña siempre al ver películas, y estábamos buscando qué ver, a veces es muy difícil decidirlo porque hemos visto demasiadas cosas y además, dependiendo de nuestro estado de ánimo y mentalidad de momento, nos dejamos llevar por un género más que otro, Esta vez queríamos ver una película interesante y nos topamos con esta. Aunque solemos ver cine de muchos otros países, nunca habíamos visto algo de cine mexicano y hoy les vengo a hablar de esta peculiar película, intentando no hacer spoilers si quieren ir a verla, comencemos!

Hello again! Today I’m come to you with a pretty awesome new post, this time, a review of a movie I saw recently called The Incident. I was with my boyfriend the other day, he always comes with me to watch movies and we were trying to figure out what to watch. Sometimes it’s really hard to decide because we’ve seen so many things, and depending on our mood and mindset at the moment, we tend to gravitate toward one genre over another. This time we wanted to watch something interesting, and we stumbled upon this one. Although we usually watch movies from many other countries, we’d never seen anything from Mexican cinema before, and today I’m here to talk to you about this unique filmtrying not to give away any spoilers in case you want to go see it. Let’s go!

Esta película fue estrenada en el año 2014, fue dirigida y escrita por Isaac. Ezban y protagonizada por una buena gama de actores como Raúl Méndez, Humberto Busto, Hernán Mendoza, Nailea Norvind, y Fernando Álvarez Rebeil. Investigando el género la mayoría de las páginas la denominan como ciencia ficción, sin embargo para mí es más como un thriller. Hablar de la trama es difícil sin dar spoilers, ya que para explicar que es lo que sucede es necesario hablar de algo importante que sucede, y es que las historias parecen aisladas entre sí, pero nada más lejos de la realidad. La primera historia trata de dos hermanos que son Oliver y Carlos que parecen tener problemas de dinero, los cuales son increpados por un policía llamado Marco que los quiere arrestar por un supuesto crimen, pero luego de un incidente en la persecución quedan atrapados en las escaleras que parecen infinitas. La segunda historia es de una madre, Sandra y su pareja, Roberto planean un viaje en conjunto a los hijos de esta, Daniel el hermano mayor y Sandra la hermana menor, sin embargo luego de un incidente, la carretera en la que viajan parece ir en un bucle eterno.

This film was released in 2014, it was directed and written by Isaac Ezban and stars a diverse cast of actors, including Raúl Méndez, Humberto Busto, Hernán Mendoza, Nailea Norvind, and Fernando Álvarez Rebeil. Looking at the genre, most websites classify it as science fiction, but to me it’s more of a thriller. It’s hard to discuss the plot without giving away spoilers, since explaining what happens requires mentioning a key plot point: the stories seem isolated from one another, but nothing could be further from the truth. The first story is about two brothers, Oliver and Carlos, who seem to be having money problems. They are confronted by a police officer named Marco who wants to arrest them for an alleged crime, but after an incident during the chase, they find themselves trapped on a staircase that seems to go on forever. The second story is about a mother, Sandra, and her partner, Roberto, who plan a trip together with her children, Daniel, the older brother, and Sandra, the younger sister; however, after an incident, the highway they’re traveling on seems to go in an endless loop.

El incidente ocurre cuando el evento trágico que ocasionará la inminente destino de uno de los involucrados ocurre. Justo después de estos eventos suena una explosión, lo cual indica que el incidente ocurrió y que ahora estarán atrapados en un bucle de cual no podrán escapar, en la primera historia son unas escaleras que no parecen tener un comienzo y un fin, y en la segunda historia, una carretera que parecer ir en círculos. Los días parecen repetirse, todo lo que está en el lugar como alimentos y objetos parecen regenerarse, lo cual ayuda a a la supervivencia, y el tiempo parece estático. Los años pasan pero todo parece igual, pero la realidad es que el tiempo cambia todo. Es difícil narrar esto sin spoilers, pero realmente hay que estar muy atentos a los detalles que se observan para poder entender lo que sucede, que aunque no lo parezca realmente no es tan complicado, pero te hace volar la mente.

The incident occurs when the tragic event that will seal the fate of one of the characters takes place. Immediately after these events, an explosion is heard, signaling that the incident has occurred and that they are now trapped in a loop from which they cannot escape. In the first story, it is a staircase that seems to have no beginning and no end; in the second story, it is a road that appears to go in circles. The days seem to repeat themselves; everything in the place, such as food and objects seems to regenerate, which aids survival, and time seems to stand still. Years go by but everything seems the same, yet the reality is that time changes everything. It’s hard to describe this without spoilers, but you really have to pay close attention to the details you observe to understand what’s happening which, even though it might not seem like it, isn’t actually that complicated, but it really blows your mind.

Algo que me preocupaba de esta película era no entenderla, porque puede ser fácil perder el hilo conductor que conecta ambas historias, sim embargo la película es clara e incluso, te explica directamente qué es lo que pasa, y nos logramos desesperar con los personajes, y a su vez entender como ceden ante un destino que parece no tener final. Es una película bien hecha, con una historia coherente y que puede hacer que el espectador se mantenga atento a lo que sucede. Sin embargo, aunque la considero una muy buena película, siento que carece de trascendencia, aunque me gustó mucho no creo que sea una película que me haya marcado tanto, no obstante la recomiendo porque considero que a alguien más si la puede marcar, y bastante, porque tiene una buena reflexión y un plot twist bastante bueno que uno no se espera. La dirección me encanta, la fotografía es impecable, y las actuaciones personalmente me gustaron mucho. Espero que la quieran ver y me puedan compartir su opinión, y si la vieron cuéntenme qué les pareció!

One thing that worried me about this movie was that I might not understand it, because it can be easy to lose track of the thread that connects the two stories. However, the film is clear and even explains directly what’s happening, so we end up feeling frustrated with the characters while also understanding how they succumb to a fate that seems to have no end. It’s a good film, with a coherent story that keeps the viewer engaged in what’s happening. However, although I consider it a very good movie, I feel it lacks depth. Even though I really liked it, I don’t think it’s a movie that left a lasting impression on me. Nevertheless, I recommend it because I believe it could have a significant impact on someone else, and quite a strong one at that, since it offers a thought-provoking reflection and a pretty good plot twist that you don’t see coming. I love the direction, the cinematography is impeccable, and I personally really liked the performances.
