In 2023, I saw INSIDE, a film that, as I described above, is in the Thriller - Drama - Heist & Robbery - Psychological Thriller - Single Set genre. However, it wasn't that interesting premise that made me decide to watch it. I really couldn't resist because it stars the incomparable WILLEM DAFOE, whom I've been following since the 1980s, in one of the films I loved most at the time Streets of Fire, where we enjoy a young actor on the rise.
Throughout his career, I've closely followed his choices in roles and projects, and I must say that, in my humble opinion, he's had some brilliant hits and others not so much. An example of the "not so" was his participation in The Legend of Ochi in 2025, which I consider a true waste of his incredible ability. However, at INSIDE we can delight in a capital performance from this tall actor.
En el 2023 vi INSIDE una película que como describí anteriormente, su género es Thriller - Drama - Robos & Atracos - Thriller psicológico - Escenario único, pero no fue esa premisa tan interesante la que me hizo decidir verla, realmente no pude resistirme por estar protagonizada por el inigualable WILLEM DAFOE a quien sigo desde los años 80´s en una de las películas que más amé en su momento Calles de Fuego, donde disfrutamos de un joven actor en ascenso.
A lo largo de su carrera he seguido de cerca sus elecciones de papeles o proyectos, y debo decir que, en mi humilde opinión, ha tenido aciertos brillantes y otros no tanto, un ejemplo de los "no tanto" fue su participación en La Leyenda de Ochi de este 2025, que considero fue un verdadero desperdicio de su increíble capacidad. Sin embargo, en INSIDE podemos deleitarnos con una actuación mayúscula de este actor de talla alta.
In INSIDE, Willem Dafoe gives us a performance that borders on perfection, masterfully carrying the entire weight of this film on his shoulders.
The premise of INSIDE is very simple but powerful: Willem Dafoe (Nemo) is an art thief who, along with a distant partner, plans to steal art from a luxurious, high-tech penthouse. However, the theft goes terribly wrong, and Nemo is trapped. Now this place becomes a kind of prison whose technology will even jeopardize his very survival.

La premisa de INSIDE es muy simple pero poderosa: Willem Dafoe (Nemo) es un ladrón de arte y planea junto con un socio (que está en la distancia) robar arte en un lujoso ático o penthouse que dispone de alta tecnología. Sin embargo, este robo sale muy mal y Nemo queda atrapado, y ahora este lugar se convierte en una especie de prisión que con su tecnología comprometerá incluso su propia supervivencia.
INSIDE allows us to see the profound psychological journey of a cornered man, grappling with loneliness, hunger, thirst, and despair. Dafoe gives us a constant internal monologue, sometimes through his words, but mostly through gestures, looks, and body language, demonstrating his physical and mental deterioration throughout the film. This film by Willem Dafoe is truly magnificent.
His desperate actions to meet his basic needs and the way he interacts with the art that surrounds him are conveyed with perfect acting. I can't imagine anyone else pulling this off; it was the perfect role for Dafoe.
INSIDE nos deja ver el viaje psicológico profundo de un hombre acorralado, lidiando con la soledad, el hambre, la sed y la desesperación. Dafoe nos regala un monólogo interno constante a veces a través de su palabra, pero mayormente lo expresa a través de gestos, miradas y su lenguaje corporal mostrando un deterioro físico y mental durante toda la película; así de grande ha sido esta entrega de Willem Dafoe.
Sus actos desesperados por cubrir sus necesidades básicas y la forma como va interactuando con el arte que lo rodea, son transmitidos con una perfecta actuación, no imagino a otra persona logrando esto, ha sido el papel perfecto para Dafoe.
Willem Dafoe's performance. Of course, I've been praising him from the beginning of this post, and it's true. It demonstrates his ability to convey a wide range of emotions, such as frustration, despair, and resignation, with just his facial and body language. I would say this film is a MASTERCLASS IN ACTING.
The attic or the atmosphere is so well-executed that it's practically another character within the film. The art, the decor, the spaces, the technology, every frame or panning shot the camera makes is beautifully realized.
The psychological reflection it leaves us with, on themes such as loneliness, freedom, and the value of art. This is absolutely personal for each person, but it's a great opportunity to talk about these topics, which for some will have more value than others, or some will be more sensitive than others. And as for art, I think we could analyze other things to which we place exaggerated value, not necessarily just art.
La actuación de Willem Dafoe, por supuesto lo estoy alabando desde el principio de esta publicación y es la verdad. Nos demuestra su capacidad para transmitir una amplia gama de emociones como la frustración, la desesperación y la resignación, solo con su expresión facial y corporal. Esta película yo diría que perfectamente es una CLASE MAGISTRAL DE ACTUACIÓN.
El ático o la atmósfera está tan bien lograda que prácticamente es otro personaje dentro de la película. El arte, la decoración, los espacios, la tecnología, cada encuadre o recorrido que hace la cámara está bellamente logrado.
La reflexión psicológica que nos deja, sobre temas como la soledad, la libertad y el valor del arte. Esto es absolutamente personal para cada uno, pero es una gran oportunidad para hablar sobre estos temas, que para algunos tendrá más valor unos que otros, o serán más sensibles unos que otros. Y en cuanto al arte creo que bien podríamos analizar otras cosas a las que les damos un valor exagerado, no necesariamente solo arte.
- Perhaps some moments or parts of the film were a bit slow, but I understand this as an added value to the narrative, as it allows us to feel the loneliness or understand how desperation escalates; but I think for some it may be a negative.
- Tal vez algunos momentos o partes de la película fueron algo lentos, yo lo entiendo como un valor agregado en la narración, ya que con él podemos sentir la soledad o entender como va escalando la desesperación; pero creo que par algunos puede ser algo negativo.
For all the reasons stated above, I RECOMMEND INSIDE 100%, and I can tell you that I liked it so much that its ending has a characteristic that I always say jars me a bit, but this film left such a lasting impression on me that even that detail seemed beautiful.
All I can say is that, after watching it, I understand art a little better...
Por todo lo expuesto anteriormente, RECOMIENDO INSIDE AL 100%, y les puedo decir que tanto me gustó que su final tiene una característica que siempre manifiesto que me choca un poco, pero esta película me dejó tanto que incluso ese detalle lo vi hermoso.
Solo puedo decir que, luego de verla entiendo un poco mejor el arte...

Chama en el cine no había ni un pendón, ni una bendita publicidad de la película, y eso que fue en el centro comercial aledaño al fuerte tiuna que es de los militares.
Simplemente lo que me dio fue tristeza, ver el estado en que estaba el cine.
