Movies are know to have both positive and negative effects on its viewers depending on the genre and a person philosophical and traditional view to it. Movies are known to be for educational and entertainment purposes, some people watch movies to relax themselves from stress or the days activities because they have a way of relaxing the mind which can be therapeutic for the body and soul.

Also, some watch them for its educational content, I remember when I was young around the ages of 18 to 20 years and even now, I would love to watch British movies because of the way they speak, the diction and intonation and somehow it helped me so well. Again, movies are really educational because back in the university, we had a course in literature and because of the complexity of the novel we didn't bother to read or analyze it.

Unfortunately, the lecturer sensed our lackadaisical attitude and asked us to discuss thematic preoccupation in the novel. It was so shocking that you could hear everyone sighing in disbelief. At first I was scared, but then I realised that I had watched a movie that played late in the night which was "Helen of troy" immediately I remembered it I began writing and at the end of the exam I passed with grade B. Then I remembered when our parents would force us to go to room and not watch late night movies, awsuming i did not watch that i would have been stranded at the exam hall.

So as we can see from my story, there are positive sides to how a movie can educate a person in terms of health, marital life, education, lifestyle and so many other. Many series are released both local and International that keep you aware of happenings all over the world.

One movie that had a negative effect on was a horror movie I watched at age 20,then I was a student at the university. The movie was so bad that every scene had a horrific moment. Looking back I remember watching it in the evening into the night. At first I watched it scared but I never knew it would have an after effect on me.

After the whole thing, I had to leave the room to go ease myself and we had to step outside because it was not a self contain,as I opened the door, that was when I felt scared. It was like the atmosphere and the environment had this evil air surrounding it. I have to rush out ease myself and got back into my room. When I try to sleep as well it was difficult because whenever I close my eyes it was as if I was watching the horror movie again.

The movie affected me negatively, and the funny thing is I still watch horror movies at night knowing that they would have an impact on my sleep for some hours.

This is my participation in the @hivereachout community weekly contest, to join in check through this link.

‎In this prompt, share with us one movie that negatively influenced you. Tell us how it affected you and whether you have gotten rid of its influence or not."

This is so amazing.
I can remember Back then When I'm moch younger My parents usually do the same too,
Stopping us from watching horror movies mostly at night.
Most movie educates us positively, and keep trying our best so that we don't get influenced negatively.
Thanks for sharing 🙏
