Lazy Day - May 24, 2026@goldenoakfarm

Sunday I got up and fed the cat at 6AM so he’d be quiet and went back to bed and didn’t get up until 9:30AM. I got my posts up and sat down for a while.

Mesclun #4 seedlings
Then I got up and raised lights for the seedlings and watered them all. I made some lunch and sat down to watch the next Audrey Helpburn movie, ‘Sabrina’.

It had just finished when the contractor arrived to do a couple small jobs inside.

I needed a towel ring for my general helper so we figured out where to put that. And the drawer in the office table had a messed up track, so he fixed that.
When he left I sat down to read my Sue Grafton book, ‘K is for Killer’. I made some supper and finished the book afterwards.
I’d kept the wood stove going all day and the masonry heater did its job in the addition. I got the shades pulled and was in bed at 8:30PM.
On Monday I have to remember to finish the butter as I forgot it on Sunday. I need to do laundry and finish cleaning up the kitchen. I need to get the winter clothes washed and ready to put away. And my #1 intern and I should do something about getting the bedroom ready for my general helper. It’s to be another gloomy rainy day…

Wood stove? Oh Jesus, here it's so hot already

Nothing like rainy days for making you relax at least a little bit. We have had such mild weather with no wind that there's always the feeling that I should be out doing something. But then it starts to rain and I get bored. I hate being stuck inside. I just got a new puffer jacket though, so I think I'll go out walking today even if it does rain a little bit. The wind is up so it's starting to feel like proper winter.
Everyone deserves a few lazy days. Its been rainy here. We usually are outside by 7am but in the rain I've slept in a couple of days. There is a 90s remake of Sabrina with Harrison Ford.
I have that one too, but I'm doing Audrey Hepburn movies atm...
This looks truly serene and amazing.
I am loving it, totally!!!
Nothing better than a relaxing and peaceful day!
I love both of the versions of Sabrina!
