Friendship is a very important factor that man cannot do without, being that man is a social being. Your friend can either make you or mar you, lift you or bring you down.

True and lasting friendship lives beyond time, space, barriers, bringing joy and happiness to those involved. Even in times of disagreement, true friends stay true to their bond.

The movie I'll be reviewing is titled 3 idiots. Did you laugh? It is okay to laugh as that was the first thing I did when I first saw the movie title as well. I knew that I'd love the movie even before I watched it.

3 idiots is a Bollywood movie, released in 2009 but till date, I still recall its message passed across through good acting.

Synopsis

3 idiots is about three students named Raju, Farhan and Rancho, who met and became friends in school. Each had their fears and secrets but with encouragement from Rancho, they were able to overcome obstacles that lie in their path especially those coming from a very strict teacher named Mr Virus.

The movie plot revolves around a bet that was made while the friends were still in school. The bet was brought up by a wired student named Chatur. He was envious of Rancho's progress in school and his friendship with Raju and Farhan that he made a bet to see who would be more successful in ten years time.

As Raju and Farhan who were successful went in search of their friend Rancho in his village, they uncovered a huge secret. Turns out that Rancho was not Rancho but Chhote, the son of the real Rancho's family gardener. Did this secret cause an eruption in their friendship? Did Chhote win the bet against Chaturr? What I learnt and liked?

The strong bond of friendship shared between the three friends is both admirable and commendable. Time and distance did not quench the fire of their friendship.

While in school, they were naughty. Raju had a chance to betray Rancho and Farhan but he rejected the offer and even injured himself in order to protect his friends.

Their bond overcame many hurdles thrown their way by the very very strict My Virus and in the end, they earned his respect.

I liked the humour from start to finish in the movie. I also liked how the 3 friends or naughty friends practically put themselves in trouble simply because they wanted to pass with flying colours.

Al the actors and actresses were on point. I had nothing to dislike about the movie at all. I feel a wave of nostalgia wash over me even as I type this review.

Most memorable scenes

The scene that impacted me the most was when Raju and Farhan finally found Chhote (formerly Rancho) in a secluded village and Chatur also came to showoff that he was more successful but to his surprise, Chhote was a big boss whose signature Chatur needed. When he realized that he had lost the bet, the expression on his face was very very funny. I couldn't help but scream *serves you right”.

I really enjoyed watching this movie. I laughed a lot at the friend's naughtiness but most importantly, I admired their resolve to stick with each other even after many years.

I also understood from this movie that true friends last even as time passes by. We don't have to live close to ourselves before we believe that we are friends. The core of friendship is one that once it is built on honesty, sincerity and genuineness, it will outlast any storm, any place and any hurdle.

I rate this move a cool 9/10 stars for its ingenuity, jocularity and attention to detail. It was and still is a great movie.
