Saturday Rain, Whiskey, and Reading

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

My weekend started Friday. I know, I know, Saturday and Sunday only, Just stick with me here…please. You see the wife needed to get out for some grocery shopping and I wanted to get out of the house. So as a payment for going with her as an escort to the grocery store, I picked up a 5th of Jameson Irish Whiskey. I don’t drink much because of all my medication, so that should last me a very long time.

Anyway, the aforementioned is my prep for Saturday, so had to mention it as part of this story. Needless to say, it rained that evening and I had to do a taste test and kicked back in my recliner while reading some blog posts here on the Hive

Saturday it rained some more. I was supposed to have a handyman come and work on repair of my storage shed, but that was rescheduled for Monday. So, what else is there to do on a rainy Saturday but sip on the Jameson Irish Whiskey I bought Friday and watch the rain and do some reading?

Nah, there is stuff to do. But most of it is outside right now or requires me to use my garage. Cleaning up a garage though is also one of those things on the list of things to do, but I must empty some of the stuff outside to get around in it and move things around. It is a complete and absolute mess as you can see below:

There are some things I could possibly straighten up and move around without having to move anything outside. However, it is probably not the safest of things to mix alcohol and a garage full of dangerous tools. Well, I don’t know it was only a small tumbler, and I am just sipping on it.

Yeah, I know, you have probably seen junk yards that look more organized than my garage. It gets that way because it becomes the catch all for the entire house. It is too small, and we have too much stuff stored within it for a car to fit inside.

Anyway, I decided to save the garage for another sunny day and catch up on my reading and movie watching. I still have a few more chapters of The Story of Silver to finish that good old @bitcoinman recommended. I have been sitting on it for a while ever since I started it and got halfway through and never finished. Then there are the couple of copies of Numismatic News I am behind on.

Sometime during the day and between reading all of this, and while the youngest son is at work, the wife and I plan to watch A Man Called Otto with Tom Hanks.

She has been wanting to watch it ever since it was released. I really like Tom Hanks, so why not? Looks like it could be fun. Plus, I couldn’t talk her into Edward Scissor Hands that @wesphilbin recommended to me.

After the movie I may catch up on some study time for my Amateur Technician license exam to be a HAM radio operator. This is something I have been thinking about doing since I was in the service since it is what i did for my occupation when I first started in the military as a radio operator. My son received his and has talked me into finally doing it.

Anyway, that is my Saturday plans. Sunday is supposed to be clear and free of rain so the youngest and I and plan to go fishing if he doesn’t get called into work. We hope to catch some catfish in the local creek. I will post about that in the Outdoors and more community if we do.

Hope your weekend is fun and safe...cheers!
Joe

To be fair it's a fairly big book , oooo numismatics news sounds like an interesting magazine I wonder if they have a digital subscription too

(Edited)

They sure do have a digital subscription! But you know me, I am old fashioned with regards to my books and stuff.

Word up it looks like I might be able to get my hand on it through the library for free so there is no need for piracy this time 🤣

Nice reading material, I used to get that years ago I should subscribe again. I didn't realize how old Tom Hanks is now, let me know if it's worth watching. Enjoy that Jameson, that stuff always tastes great brother!

It has that coffee taste to it, so a small glass at 10am on a rainy day is perfect :-)
I don;t hardly ever drink any alcohol so I am treating myself this weekend to a sip every now and then.

Good for you, Saturday is a great day for it! As I've gotten older I drink less too...

I could of course, just go for some John Wayne or some The Waltons, or even some Errol Flynn, and maybe a little Randolph Scott... Anyway... Have a good weekend brother! I am gonna try to get a few things done around the house.

Love and light...

Thanks, yes, we have seen the Blind Side. It is a good movie. We watch The Waltons every now and then. I can always go for some John Wayne. Ed Scissors Hands will have to wait for some night when I am up by myself and awake enough to watch it. Thanks for the tip, you are the heat Wes!

I've always had that idea too, for me; weekends start on Friday. For community purposes I have to follow the rules. Don't let @galenkp know about it hehehehe 😅

avatar

I am all about the rules, but for contest I had to start the story on Friday. I will blame it on the Whiskey🤣

avatar

It's great 😁 Bon appetit. To close the weekend you should also prepare yourself a shot of good whiskey.
