It is difficult to talk about this movie without making even a spoiler, since being a "simple" but slowly unfolding story, almost any event, no matter how small, can be a plot "twist". On the other hand, the film is so mesmerizing and full of culture and spiritualism that it is worth watching for that alone beyond the plot. For example, watching it with the lights off on a big TV and with a good sound, I could hear a chicken in the distance, so far away that I thought it was close to where I was and not in the movie, because that sound at first instance does not matter much, but thinking about it helps to place us in the reality of the film, in making us believe that it is not a set up, but it is a whole jungle where they are.

Es difícil hablar de esta película sin hacer aunque sea un spoiler, ya que al ser una historia “simple” pero que se desarrolla de forma lenta, casi cualquier acontecimiento, por mínimo que sea, puede ser un “giro” de trama. Por otra parte, la película es tan hipnótica y está tan llena de cultura y de espiritualismo que ya solo por eso vale la pena verla más allá de la trama. Por ejemplo, al verla con las luces apagadas en un televisor grande y con un buen sonido, pude escuchar a una gallina a lo lejos, tan, pero tan a lo lejos que pensé que era cerca de dónde yo estaba y no en la película, porque ese sonido a primera instancia no importa mucho, pero pensándolo bien ayuda a situarnos en la realidad de la película, en hacernos que creer que no es un set montado, sino que es toda una selva en dónde están.

However, the way it shows such a beautiful friendship, with its ups and downs, and the way it also shows a love story is captivating. The idea of Zikril as a culture and the time taken to explain just enough to interest us, but not enough to make us part of the culture, puts us in the right place: that of a spectator. We are not intruders, we are welcome, but we are outsiders, and for that we owe respect, and the film works that incredibly well. It is truly a film that deserves all the recognition it has and more, and, for this reason, I am talking about it now.

Sin embargo, la forma en como se muestra una amistad tan hermosa, con sus altos y bajos, y la que también muestra una historia de amor es cautivadora. La idea del Zikril como una cultura y el tiempo que se toma en explicarnos solo lo suficiente para que nos interese, pero no tanto como para hacernos parte de la cultura, nos posiciona en el lugar justo: el de un espectador. No somos intrusos, somos bienvenidos, pero si somos ajenos, y por eso debemos respeto, y la película trabaja eso de forma increíble. Realmente una película que merece todo el reconocimiento que tiene y más, y, por lo mismo, hablo ahora de ella.
