Nine Days - Talking about life with a man who has never lived!
I watched a wonderful movie that I think is a candidate to be a masterpiece that shows the 9-day test and the results of the human souls who are in limbo and who are burning to be reborn into the world with the dream of the jobs that each of us can easily do in daily life today.
The movie, Nine Days, is about the tests conducted on 5 human souls and the thesis that one of them will get the chance to be reborn into the world as a baby.
At the beginning, I thought that the movie was about reincarnation, but as the story progressed, I realized that limiting the topic to reincarnation was missing many stages. It felt strange that the chosen souls return to the world in another body and that those who gave them the right to live are controlling their lives through their eyes.
It is a very fine line in terms of spiritual values that someone is the decision maker about my life with what they watch through my eyes. Imagine that our eyes serve as their camera at some point. I think the movie might even get a reaction in terms of questioning religion and belief, but I still liked the movie very much.
The fact that the task of talking to the applicant spirits, interviewing them and putting them to the test is given to an angel or, in his own words, a part of the spinning wheel, instead of the creator, ensures that the main story of the movie is on a solid ground. It increases the acceptability to some extent.
Coming back to the world as a baby after death, passing from purgatory to death if you are not the chosen soul!

All these can be considered as parts or absurdities that stuck in my mind while watching the movie and that I subjected myself to a lot of questioning, but I am not in the absurdities part because I watched all these things only from the movie's point of view. I don't think the movie attacks belief values in general. It has a structure that engages the mind a little by capturing a different point of view. Perhaps those with weak faith values may think differently or those who live in extremes may see such productions as a threat.
I have to tell you that you are not suitable for the position you have applied for. I know it's not easy to receive such news. That's why I want you to use the remaining hours to write something really meaningful for you. I know it's a small thing, but I promise to do everything I can to make you live that moment.
This quote is from the movie and I can say that it is the beginning of the scenes that affected me the most. These sentences are used when the eliminated soul is given the news of his loss and his last wish is asked. When I saw that the last request was simple actions such as going to the seaside and listening to the sound of the waves, riding a bicycle while listening to music, it made me better understand the value of the things I can do in the life I have and made me thankful.
Some critics may think that some of the themes in the film attack spiritual values, but I personally never felt that way while watching the film. Instead, I tried to focus on what the film showed and enjoy it. I definitely recommend you to watch the film. The dialogues stand out more than the locations and effects.
Winston Duke plays Will, the character who will make the choice. Will is sometimes like a philosopher in rhetoric and actions and sometimes quite annoying. Sometimes I loved and sometimes I hated his acting, but I was mesmerized by his performance in the last scene.
