Pitch Black - Making a defensive weapon from light!

I first saw the movie Pitch Black in the millennium (2000). There was a millennium frenzy and living the history of 2000 was important in those days. I was born in 1984 and I was 16 when I first watched the movie Pitch Black. Although it was released as a science fiction movie, when I first watched it, it was mostly in my mind as a horror movie.

I watched the movie Pitch Black once again last night and this time I discovered the science fiction aspect. As I add new information to my mind, I experience a deletion or forgetfulness in the past information. Although some scenes from the movie are still fresh in my mind, I realized that I had forgotten some of them.

In the scenes I watched; I said "yes, I remember this place" or "was this scene in this movie?" I was surprised.

I remember the movie was set on a planet in space, but I forgot that there are two suns on the planet where the events take place.

Briefly, the plot of the movie is as follows;

Only 11 of the crew of the spacecraft are caught in a meteor shower, but their struggle to survive and return to the planet where they crash landed is presented to the audience. There is a shortage of water and food on the planet, and there are carnivorous animals that are native to the planet.

Films that fight against nature and its creations attract my attention more than others. I see the movie Pitch Black in this category, because it will not be easy to fight against carnivorous and flying animals and escape from a place you do not know. It is an inevitable necessity to be defeated, to lose, to make sacrifices during the struggle.

Everyone and everything living has a weakness! This is true of the creatures from the movie Pitch Black, and their weakness is that they cannot move in the light and die when exposed to too much light. This is used as a weapon for people doing frail combat, but it's a defensive weapon, not an offensive weapon.

Is it night on a planet with two suns that move independently of each other?

Both suns set and the planet plunge into darkness occur every 22 years, which coincidentally corresponds to the 1.51 hours I watched. I find it normal to add a bit of fantasy to a sci-fi movie and treat the one-in-a-million probability as the course of events in fiction. In order to keep the audience in front of the screen, the scenarios based on hypothetical events and the creation of stories on fiction can be achieved with endless imagination.

As I make new additions to the memory, I find it normal to lose (forget) some of the past additions, but there is never a complete loss. Even if little bits of information remain and by watching or reading again, updating the information; it is possible to get back deleted ones from recycle folder.

It makes me want to watch the movie Pitch Black again; this kept what I said in the last paragraph alive. And it was definitely worth the time I spent. When a certain time passes between watching a movie for the first time and watching it again, it is possible to extract more meaning from the movie. He says I should do this more often, and I know, but time gets in the way of some of the things we want to do.

Most people are afraid of the dark, maybe even after they are adults, there are those who are afraid of being in the dark and keep themselves in the light at night. But your fear of the dark is not as much as in the movie Pitch Black!

One of my favorite movie. It still stands in this era of sci-fi.

You're right, the future happens in movies first. :)
