Este fin de semana tuve la oportunidad de ver en la pantalla grande la última entrega de uno de los equipos favoritos del universo cinematográfico de Marvel: los Guardianes de la Galaxia✨

Al igual que las últimas dos películas de estos personajes, James Gunn nos entrega una historia con giros inesperados y sorpresas en diferentes escenas. Guardianes de la Galaxia Vol. 3 es un viaje intergaláctico lleno de emotividad que le arruga el corazón a los espectadores, junto a efectos especiales muy bien elaborados y escenas de acción memorables.

Así que permíteme darte mi opinión (sin spoilers) de la película que le da un cierre a nuestros inadaptados favoritos, que se ganaron nuestro cariño desde el 2014🥺

This weekend I had the opportunity to see on the big screen the latest installment of one of the favorite teams of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: the Guardians of the Galaxy✨

Just like the last two movies of these characters, James Gunn delivers a story with unexpected twists and surprises in different scenes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is an intergalactic journey full of heart-wrenching emotionality, along with well-crafted special effects and memorable action scenes.

So let me give you my opinion (without spoilers) of the movie that brings closure to our favorite misfits, who earned our affection since 2014🥺

Knowhere, lugar donde residen los guardianes, es atacado por un misterioso personaje que luego conocemos como Adam Warlock, quien su principal misión es secuestrar a Rocket para llevarlo ante el Alto Evolucionador, jefe de OrgoCorp, una organización encargada de realizar experimentos que ayuden en la evolución de civilizaciones. Nuestros queridos guardianes, Peter Quill (Star-Lord), Nebula, Mantis, Drax y Groot, defienden su hogar y rescatan a su amigo, sin embargo, Rocket queda muy malherido, y la clave para salvarlo se encuentra con el Alto Evolucionador, su creador.

Desde el estreno de Guardianes de la Galaxia Vol. 2 han pasado diferentes sucesos que han marcado la vida de estos personajes, esta película le otorga un buen cierre a esas historias y nos permite comenzar unas nuevas. Gunn siempre logra una química increíble entre todos los personajes, quizás esa es la fórmula secreta por la cual los amamos tanto, pero aparte de unas grandes actuaciones también tenemos eventos sobre la crueldad animal que permite la reflexión de todos los espectadores. El humor característico de estos personajes jamás se pierde, y es algo que la diferencia de las demás películas de Marvel, junto al drama y la acción, considero que la mayor parte del público saldrá satisfecho.

Knowhere, the place where the Guardians reside, is attacked by a mysterious character later known as Adam Warlock, whose main mission is to kidnap Rocket to take him to the High Evolutionary, head of OrgoCorp, an organization in charge of conducting experiments to help in the evolution of civilizations. Our beloved Guardians, Peter Quill (Star-Lord), Nebula, Mantis, Drax and Groot, defend their home and rescue their friend, however, Rocket is badly wounded, and the key to saving him lies with the High Evolutionary, his creator.

Since the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 different events have happened that have marked the lives of these characters, this film gives a good closure to those stories and allows us to start new ones. Gunn always achieves an incredible chemistry between all the characters, maybe that is the secret formula why we love them so much, but apart from some great performances we also have events about animal cruelty that allows the reflection of all viewers. The characteristic humor of these characters is never lost, and is something that sets it apart from the other Marvel movies, along with the drama and action, I think most of the audience will be satisfied.

Rocket siempre ha sido uno de mis personajes favoritos de Marvel, adoro cada escena en donde él aparece, y es grandioso verlo como el protagonista de esta película, conocer con mayor profundidad su triste historia. Como ya todos sospechábamos, nuestro querido mapache es un experimento de un ser totalmente detestable (pero un villano sorprendente) llamado el Alto Evolucionador, quién, como dice su nombre, su principal misión es la evolución de las especies, a un punto que llega a ser obsesivo y devastador.

La película relata la serie de abusos y maltrato que sufrió Rocket en su pasado, explica el porqué el personaje se comporta de la manera en que lo hace, y logramos comprenderlo (y amarlo aún más), pero sin duda son escenas desgarradoras que le romperá el corazón a todos, especialmente si eres como yo, alguien que adora a los animales🥺

Rocket's story💖

Rocket has always been one of my favorite Marvel characters, I love every scene where he appears, and it's great to see him as the main character in this movie, to learn more in depth about his sad story. As we all already suspected, our beloved raccoon is an experiment of a totally detestable being (but an amazing villain) called the High Evolutionary, who, as his name says, his main mission is the evolution of the species, to a point that becomes obsessive and devastating.

The movie recounts the series of abuse and mistreatment that Rocket suffered in his past, explains why the character behaves the way he does, and we get to understand him (and love him even more), but without a doubt they are heartbreaking scenes that will break everyone's heart, especially if you are like me, someone who loves animals🥺

El villano que nos presenta esta tercera entrega es sumamente fácil de odiar, desde el principio hasta el final, no obstante, se destaca la grandiosa actuación del actor Chukwudi Iwuji como el Alto Evolucionador, y la razón por la que se detesta a este personaje es debido al maltrato animal. Utiliza a estos seres vivos como objetos, los ve como seres imperfectos que necesitan ser “reparados”, y desde su ciego narcisismo, él considera ser la mejor opción para ayudar a esta raza.

Así es como lo vemos sometiendo a un pequeño Rocket en una cantidad de experimentos para lograr alcanzar su máximo potencial, y sinceramente, todos queremos ahorcar a las personas implicadas en esos “experimentos”.

Sin embargo, estos sucesos consigue dar un mensaje muy importante al público, la vida animal es tan importante como la vida humana, estos seres también sienten y merecen una vida digna y respetuosa como cada ser humano. No son “seres inferiores” por no contar con una inteligencia como la nuestra, es más, si nosotros somos la “vida inteligente” es de estúpidos tratar a otros seres vivos de esa manera. Por lo tanto, ¿cuántas no son las organizaciones reales que siguen fomentando la explotación animal en la actualidad? Esta película hace un llamado a ese ciento, quizás miles, de empresas que siguen destruyendo nuestro ecosistema con sus tecnologías que matan al planeta, y al final, ¿qué gracia tiene “evolucionar” si no tendremos un planeta donde vivir?

Animal protection💜

The villain that this third installment presents us with is extremely easy to hate, from the beginning to the end, however, the great performance of actor Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary stands out, and the reason why this character is detested is because of his animal mistreatment. He uses these living beings as objects, he sees them as imperfect beings that need to be “repaired”, and from his blind narcissism, he considers himself to be the best option to help this race.

This is how we see him subjecting a little Rocket to a number of experiments in order to achieve his full potential, and honestly, we all want to hang the people involved in these “experiments”.

However, these events manage to give a very important message to the public, animal life is as important as human life, these beings also feel and deserve a dignified and respectful life as every human being. They are not “inferior beings” because they do not have intelligence like ours, moreover, if we are the “intelligent life” it is stupid to treat other living beings in that way. Therefore, how many are not the real organizations that continue to promote animal exploitation today? This film calls out to those hundred, maybe thousands, of companies that continue to destroy our ecosystem with their planet-killing technologies, and in the end, what's the point of “evolving” if we won't have a planet to live on?

Cada guardián tiene su desarrollo de personaje. Con Quill aprendemos que amar, también es dejar ir, que no podemos presionar a otra persona en ser lo que nosotros queramos que sea. Y aunque Gamora, por obvias razones, es totalmente diferente a la Gamora anterior, es lindo verla libre y que a pesar de todo los sucesos, ella ha encontrado su lugar en el universo. Vemos a una Nebula con mayor liderazgo, que aprende poco a poco como gestionar sus emociones y se interesa por el bienestar de todos. Drax y Mantis nos siguen haciendo reír y tienen un vínculo muy especial, pero ambos al final descubren lo que realmente necesitan en sus vidas. Con Rocket aprendemos a soltar el pasado, para poder continuar con nuestro camino. Y bueno, es evidente que Groot creció🤭, pero nosotros también crecimos con todos ellos, al punto que incluso ya entendemos el idioma de Groot🥺

Es un arco donde se abordan muchos temas que habían quedado inconclusos en las entregas anteriores, y sí, aún quedan algunos cabos sueltos, pero queda entendido que lo más importante es el amor que siente cada personaje por el otro, y que cada uno lo expresa a su manera💜

The New Path of the Guardians🥺

Each guardian has his or her character development. With Quill, we learn that to love, is also to let go, that we can't pressure another person into being what we want them to be. And although Gamora, for obvious reasons, is totally different from the previous Gamora, it's nice to see her free and that despite all the events, she has found her place in the universe. We see a Nebula with greater leadership, who gradually learns how to manage her emotions and is interested in the welfare of all. Drax and Mantis continue to make us laugh and have a very special bond, but both eventually discover what they really need in their lives. With Rocket, we learn to let go of the past, so we can continue on our way. And well, it's clear that Groot grew up🤭, but we also grew up with all of them, to the point that we even already understand Groot's language🥺.

It is an arc where many issues that had been left unfinished in the previous installments are addressed, and yes, there are still some loose ends, but it is understood that the most important thing is the love that each character feels for the other, and that each one expresses it in his own way💜

Aparte del humor, otra cosa que caracteriza las películas de los Guardianes de la Galaxia son sus efectos especiales. Al estar moviéndose por diferentes rincones del universo permite ampliar la visión de las escenas, crear cosas nuevas y ser creativos. Esto lo vemos desde principio a fin, desde una estación espacial muy viscosa y viva, un tanto asquerosa, como en el diseño de nuevas especies evolucionadas, en cada escena de acción, y hasta en animales cyborg muy bien desarrollados.

Pero lo más encantador, y a la vez doloroso, fue ver a Rocket pequeño y los animales que lo acompaña. Lucen tan reales y vivos, en sus ojos percibimos sus emociones, y solo queremos abrazarlos y protegerlos. Atrapa al público en un instante.

The special effects💫

Aside from the humor, another thing that characterizes the Guardians of the Galaxy movies is their special effects. As they are moving around different corners of the universe it allows them to expand the vision of the scenes, create new things and be creative. We see this from start to finish, from a very slimy and alive, somewhat disgusting space station, as in the design of new evolved species, in every action scene, and even in very well-developed cyborg animals.

But most delightful, yet painful, was seeing little Rocket and the animals that accompany him. They look so real and alive, in their eyes we perceive their emotions, and we just want to hug and protect them. It captures the audience in an instant.

Habían nombrado mucho a este personaje, e investigando sobre la historia en los comics, descubrí que entraba entre los personajes más poderosos del universo de Marvel, así que esperaba algo grande con él. Pero no sucedió, no fue deslumbrante, incluso me atrevo a decir que sin él en la película nada hubiera cambiado, porque no es significativo.

Es triste, porque creo que Will Poulter es un buen actor y podría haber dado mucho más, pero claro, existe un guion que se debe seguir. Las apariciones de este personaje fueron muy flojas, y aunque comenté que al principio él intentaba llevar a Rocket con el villano de la historia, fácilmente podrían haber colocado otro personaje lacayo del Alto Evolucionador y todo hubiera quedado exactamente igual.

Sinceramente, opino que lo que falló aquí, es que no era su momento de aparición. Esta película es un cierre para los guardianes, no queríamos ver personajes nuevos, solo queríamos un buen final para los personajes que hemos estado viendo todos estos años y les tenemos cariño. Así que no era la oportunidad para que tuviera una buena cohesión con el grupo.

I expected more from Adam Warlock 🫤

They had named this character a lot, and researching about the history in the comics, I found out that he entered among the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe, so I expected something great with him. But it didn't happen, it wasn't dazzling, I even dare to say that without him in the movie nothing would have changed, because he's not significant.

It's sad, because I think Will Poulter is a good actor and could have given much more, but of course, there is a script to follow. The appearances of this character were very weak, and although I commented that at the beginning he was trying to take Rocket with the villain of the story, they could have easily placed another lackey character of the High Evolutionary and everything would have remained exactly the same.

Honestly, I'm of the opinion that what went wrong here, is that it wasn't his time to appear. This movie is a closure for the Guardians, we didn't want to see new characters, we just wanted a good ending for the characters we have been seeing all these years, and we are fond of them. So it wasn't the opportunity for him to have a good cohesion with the group.

Para concluir, esta película habla exclusivamente de los Guardianes, por lo que es personal y muy emotiva, dándole el cierre que ellos necesitaban. Pasaron a ser un grupo de individuos totalmente inadaptados, a una hermosa familia de inadaptados💖 Hay que agradecer a James Gunn por contarnos esta historia tal cual como lo hizo, por también ser diferente al resto de las películas de Marvel. Y sé que vamos a extrañar muchísimo a este grupo que lleno de amor, muchas risas y momentos intergalácticos increíbles nuestras vidas❤️

To conclude, this movie talks exclusively about the Guardians, so it is personal and very emotional, giving them the closure they needed. They went from being a group of totally misfit individuals, to a beautiful family of misfits💖 You have to thank James Gunn for telling us this story the way he did, for also being different from the rest of the Marvel movies. And I know we are going to miss so much this group that filled our lives with love, lots of laughs and amazing intergalactic moments ❤️
