Review de la miniserie Caleidoscopio

Justo ayer terminé de ver esta serie junto a mi esposa y hoy necesito expresar lo que está serie de Netflix me ha suscitado. Pero antes como casi siempre quiero dejar en claro que en este comentario sobre esta producción no haré ningún spoilers, de modo que puedes continuar con la lectura sin preocupación. Lo que pretendo con esta publicación es comunicar mi más honesta opinión sobre esta serie, y quizá convencerte de que la veas o quizá no te sientas convencido de verla.

SINOPSIS:

Caleidoscopio es una miniserie que cuenta con 8 episodios, su historia se centra en la vida de un experimentado ladrón, pues este convoca a un equipo para orquestar uno de los robos más grandes de la historia, 7.000 millones de dólares. Pero la traición, la codicia y otros factores ponen en peligro el escrupuloso ataque.

Antes de dar mi opinión hay un dato curioso que hay que resaltar, es que la serie consta de 8 capítulos, cada uno tiene por título un color diferente, pero esto no es lo curioso, sino que la serie está construida para que puedas mirar la serie en cualquier orden, respetanto el primer capítulo que es el color negro y el último que es el color blanco. Por ejemplo yo vi la serie en este orden:

Negro
Amarillo
Verde
Azul
Naranja
Violeta
Rojo
Rosa
Blanco

Pero, tú si lo deseas puedes verlo en cualquier otro orden por ejemplo: Negro, Violeta, azul, amarillo, naranja, rosa, verde, blanco. Creo que la trama en sí misma no es demasiado brillante, lo realmente fabuloso ha sido la aleatoriedad en la que puede ser vista y aunque siempre el resultado es el mismo, el modo en el que vas construyendo la trama y como vas armando los elementos que te presentan en cada episodio hace que la experiencia sea diferente para cada persona. Y esto me ha parecido algo interesante.

Como lo he expresado en la sinopsis, la historia de la serie circunda principalmente en el orquestado del robo, pero, hay un montón de elementos previos al robo y posteriores al robo que la serie va jugando con el tiempo, haciendo que cada capítulo sea una micro historia cerrada con elementos que hay que ensamblar en la macro historia. Es por ello que ha funcionado la aleatoriedad del modo de ver la serie. Cada capítulo funciona como una historia cerrada. El hijo que conecta cada episodio es sutil porque se mezcla con ciertos detalles que vamos descubriendo a medida que “avanzamos” en la serie, y digo avanzamos por decirlo, pero, los capítulos pueden dar saltos temporales alocados, por ejemplo, hay un episodio que narra lo ocurrido horas antes de efectuar el robo, y quizás el siguiente episodio que te toque ver puede ser 25 años antes del robo o quizá horas después del robo.

Calificación:

Estoy siendo generoso con la calificación porque han sabido elaborar la serie de tal modo que te entretiene, pero, en sí la trama por si sola, me deja un poco decepcionado, de hecho, si la historia hubiese sido desarrollada cronológicamente, hubiese sido una serie muy promedio, y muy predecible.

El reparto conformado por: Giancarlo Esposito, Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Jai Courtney, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Niousha Noor, Sammy Peralta, John Hans Tester.

Con respecto al reparto, tiene buenos actores, aunque no me sentí demasiado identificado con ninguno, por ejemplo con el protagonista no conecte demasiado, hasta que entendí la razón de por qué hacia lo que hacía. Aunque el personaje que más deteste fue el que más me gustó porque siento que transmitió su papel muy bien y este personaje fue el que desempeñó “Jai Courtney”.

Creo que también hay que resaltar la actuación de Giancarlo Esposito y Paz Vega, estos dos más, Jai Courtney son para mi los mejores del reparto. Ahora bien, creo que hubo algunas piezas que no encajaban del todo, de hecho, siento que hay un episodio por el cual no debería comenzar la serie, pero quizá lo piense porque fue uno de los últimos episodios que ví y ya tenía medio rompecabezas armado en mi cabeza, haciendo que mi atención estuviera sesgada por los datos previos. Pero salvando los detalles, la serie es entretenida, pero siento que pudo haber sido conducida mucho mejor.

Si me preguntan si es una serie que recomendaría, diría que sí, porque funciona y es entretenida, siento que para los que les gusta este tipo de series de robos les puede encantar. Y cuéntame ¿Ya la viste? ¿Qué tal te pareció? Si no la has visto aún, espero que la veas y me dejes tu opinión.

Review of the miniseries "Kaleidoscope".

Just yesterday I finished watching this series with my wife and today I need to express what this Netflix series has aroused me. But first as almost always I want to make it clear that in this commentary on this production I will not make any spoilers, so you can continue reading without concern. What I intend with this post is to communicate my most honest opinion about this series, and maybe convince you to watch it or maybe you don't feel convinced to watch it.

SYNOPSIS:

Caleidoscopio is a miniseries that has 8 episodes, its story focuses on the life of an experienced thief, as he convenes a team to orchestrate one of the biggest robberies in history, 7 billion dollars. But betrayal, greed and other factors jeopardize the scrupulous attack.

Before I give my opinion there is a curious fact that should be highlighted, is that the series consists of 8 chapters, each one is titled a different color, but this is not the curious thing, but the series is built so that you can watch the series in any order, respecting the first chapter which is the black color and the last which is the white color. For example I watched the series in this order:

Black
Yellow
Green
Blue
Orange
Violet
Red
Pink
*** White***

But, if you wish you can see it in any other order for example: Black, Violet, blue, yellow, orange, pink, green, white. I think the plot itself is not too brilliant, the really fabulous thing has been the randomness in which it can be seen and although the result is always the same, the way in which you build the plot and how you put together the elements that are presented to you in each episode makes the experience different for each person. And this has been something interesting to me.

As I have expressed in the synopsis, the story of the series mainly revolves around the orchestration of the robbery, but, there are a lot of pre-robbery and post-robbery elements that the series plays with over time, making each episode a closed micro story with elements that have to be assembled in the macro story. That's why the randomness of the way the series has worked. Each chapter works as a closed story. The son that connects each episode is subtle because it is mixed with certain details that we discover as we "advance" in the series, and I say advance so to speak, but the chapters can make crazy time jumps, for example, there is an episode that tells what happened hours before the robbery, and perhaps the next episode you see may be 25 years before the robbery or maybe hours after the robbery.

Rating:

I am being generous with the rating because they have managed to elaborate the series in such a way that it entertains you, but, in itself the plot alone, leaves me a little disappointed, in fact, if the story had been developed chronologically, it would have been a very average series, and very predictable.

The cast consists of: Giancarlo Esposito, Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Jai Courtney, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Niousha Noor, Sammy Peralta, John Hans Tester.

Regarding the cast, it has good actors, although I didn't feel too identified with any of them, for example with the main character I didn't connect too much, until I understood the reason why he was doing what he was doing. Although the character I hated the most was the one I liked the most because I feel he transmitted his role very well and this character was the one played by "Jai Courtney".

I think we should also highlight the performance of Giancarlo Esposito and Paz Vega, these two plus, Jai Courtney are for me the best of the cast. Now, I think there were some pieces that did not quite fit, in fact, I feel that there is an episode for which I should not start the series, but maybe I think so because it was one of the last episodes I saw and I already had half a puzzle put together in my head, making my attention was biased by the previous data. But saving the details, the series is entertaining, but I feel it could have been conducted much better.

If you ask me if it's a series I would recommend, I would say yes, because it works and it's entertaining, I feel that for those who like this kind of heist series they might love it.
