Popeye's Revenge 2025 Cult Movie Review

Another day, another cult film. This time we got Popeye's Revenge a B-Horror movie to watch with family #not and friends. Note that this one belongs to the B-Horror cult series of films that i am currently watching and reviewing. These are low-budget films that are basically targeting people who simply wanna have some fun. Some of them, like the terrifier, may manage to get big but most of them will always remain low-budget films that most people don't even know.

With that in mind and i will do a reverse rating at the beginning instead of the end, this movie, in terms of reviewing it like an actual movie it's like a 3/10. In terms of it's genre it's like a 5/10. Let's now start with the plot shall we?

Plot

The story is a bit different than what we currently know. Popeye was actually a child that was born with superhuman strong arms. Due to that, he was bullied at school and his parents of course didn't let him use his strength.

He only had one friend, another girl of his age. One day he snapped out and strangled one of the bullies to the point that his eyes popped out and thus the name Popeye. Due to that turn of events a mob of angry people burned his house, killing his parents that way but he survived with the help of his friend. Supposedly, though while he was escaping, he was drowned in a lake.

Since then there is a rumor that when fog goes out in that lake Popeye is coming out seeking revenge. Many years after that a team of colleagues students decides to use their abandoned house next to the lake to turn it into an Airbnb or something but ofc they forget that Popeye will always be there in that lake.

What i Liked and What I Didn't

Now, i really liked the plot. Ofc it's not something amazing but they actually tried to create a plot and a story instead of simply having the guy kill everyone just because. So we actually have a plot. Also the whole slash and splash thing is enjoyable and entertaining but not to a great extent.

There is no need for any costumes or something, it's a guy with a navy outfit, so it's just that. The acting is nothing serious; some actors are good, some are bad, some don't even seem to be actors. There some actual prostitures there but you can say that in a way they are actors as well, or even better than them ;)

All in all, another film to kill some time or watch it with friends and have some fun. If you are looking for something more serious or an actual horror movie don't watch it!
