After having seen the whole Samurai X Live Action movie saga or also known as Rurouni Kenshin, I have also started to see its anime adaptation, some of the things I saw I still remembered, because as I mentioned in the previous post, where I talked about the movie that is set 10 years before the main story, when I was little I had already seen the Samurai X anime, but I never saw it complete and almost always saw random episodes, that's why after so long I decided to see things in order. This first Live Action movie of Rurouni Kenshin which was released in 2012, adapts the first episodes of Samurai X, but logically with their respective changes so that they could fit very well in a movie with real actors.

One of the first changes that can be noticed when watching this film, after having seen the 2021 film, which, within the story, chronologically is located 10 years before the events of the first film and the first events of the anime, is the attitude of Kenshin, as it is totally different from his youth and when he was a ruthless killer, because after the end of the 2021 film, Kenshin makes an oath which is that after the change of era of the Japanese empire, our protagonist decided that he would not kill again and so it was, 10 long years passed where Kenshin became a wanderer where he travels around Japan helping the characters thanks to his extraordinary physical abilities but this time he became a wanderer, our protagonist decided that he was not going to kill again and so it was, 10 long years passed where Kenshin became a wanderer where he travels around Japan helping the characters thanks to his extraordinary physical abilities but this time using a sword with a reversed edge, so that way he could not kill anyone, just hit them furiously to break one or two ribs, neck or arm, but never kill anyone.

It is in this first film where Kenshin meets those people who will later become his family, however, the ghosts of the past still haunt Kenshin and come for revenge. And so begins a new story of a Kenshin who learned to smile, a more relaxed Kenshin who wants to get away from violence and death, although for now it is inevitable. There are many changes in this film with respect to the anime, because although there are moments of humor, it is nothing compared to the anime, which has many moments of humor very anime style, but in that medium is where it fits better, as there are things in the anime that in a Live Action would be very strange, that is why the changes are fair and necessary in this adaptation.

Again the action scenes are spectacular, the choreography and movements of the characters look quite good. You can see the great work of the actors to make an adequate interpretation, with great moments of fast action. Other aspects that are something spectacular to see are the scenery and the set design, since it is another of those aspects that is undoubtedly the best of this and all Live Action movies, because it was not necessary to use many CGI effects, it can be said that much of the percentage of the set and scenarios used in these Live Action movies were in real locations. So there is nothing that looks out of place, at least not in this movie. The main enemy in this movie is another samurai who like Kenshin fought on the same battlefield, on that same field where Kenshin would kill for the last time and leave nailed to the ground that sword that would kill so many people in the past. The same sword that the main villain (or one of the main villains) would steal and use to impersonate Kenshin's identity in order to attract the real Kenshin and have a duel to the death.

I think this is the one that has the least fight scenes of all, I think, although I'm not really sure, but what I can confirm quite easily, is that this film served as a bridge for the introduction of the main characters and what would be the main plot of the story of the following films. Which, in addition to the aforementioned, served as a test of the spectacular Samurai saga that would come in the future, thus being what it is so far and what I believe to be the best anime/manga adaptation in history.
