Star Wars Day: May the 4th Be With You | StarWars.com

Hello there, and happy May the 4th, or Star Wars day! I love Star Wars (I'm literally wearing a shirt with Grogu on it right now), so of course I love this day. Plus, I now know it must've been at least a year since I joined ecency, because I did a May the 4th post last year too! That's crazy!

Today, I'm ranking the movies! Remember, this is my opinion, so we might not agree. Feel free to put your own ranking in the comments!

11-Rise of Skywalker
Personally, this is the movie I've watched the least. It didn't keep me entertained and just felt strange. It didn't connect much with the previous movies. I still can't understand Palpatine's return (which they didn't even bother to try and explain). Also, who came up with the idea that he had a child, who left him, and then a grandchild, who just so happened to be Rey, and is apparently super powerful now because of that? Like, I'm sorry, what?

10-Attack of the Clones
I think the worst part of this movie is the dialogue. It just didn't flow and sounded terrible. The other reason I don't really like this movie is how much it focused on Anakin and Padme's romance. I understand it was important for the plot, but, as someone who prefers romance to be more of a b (or even c) plot, I just couldn't get too involved. Though I will admit the battle at the end was pretty good, and I like how we got Boba Fett's backstory (plus this movie introduced the clones, so yeah).

9-Solo
This movie is probably the most boring for me. It's alright, but it just doesn't stick out to me much. Out of all the movies, this one is the one I forget about the most. The only good part I remember was Darth Maul's return, but then again, Clone Wars (and technically Rebels) had already did that, so it wasn't special.

8-The Last Jedi
Personally, this movie wasn't too bad. However, some of it was just...bad. Rey seemed to get a power upgrade, and after literally two lessons from Luke was able to fight and use the force really well. Plus, what happened to the Finn and Rey romance? Personally, I thought from the first movie that they were going to be an item, but in this movie it was completely scrapped, with both of them falling for worse partners (Rose was boring and Kylo/Ben...well let's just say I didn't enjoy this enemies to lovers romance that was happening). Plus, why didn't the First Order just destroy the Rebellion ships in two minutes? Oh, I know! Because then the movie would be over in five minutes, with everyone dead. Use common sense people!

7-Phantom Menace
I know not many people like this one. I do find it funny however, that people said kids would find this one boring, since this was my favorite out of the prequel movies as a kid. Because of that, this one holds a special place in my heart (even if it is not my favorite anymore). It wasn't perfect, but I liked the idea of seeing Darth Vader, the most iconic villain in all of Star Wars, as a child. Plus, even if you hate this movie, you have to admit, the battle between Obi Wan and Qui Gon vs. Maul is one of the best lightsaber duels in all of Star Wars.

6-Force Awakens
Honestly, this movie was a strong start, and I wish it had stayed that way the whole way through the sequel trilogy. The only thing I disliked about this movie was the end fight between Rey and Kylo. This girl never picked up a lightsaber. She didn't even know the Jedi were real until this movie (so in this context probably only a day or two). Kylo was trained by Luke Skywalker. You're telling me she was able to beat him in a duel, and not only that, her first ever lightsaber fight? How? Also, I feel like Finn should've been the Jedi. Throughout the first half of the movie, I actually thought he was going to be. Then it turned out to be Rey. I'm okay with her being the Jedi (at least in this movie it was alright), but think of how interesting it could've been had Finn, the former stormtrooper who people probably wouldn't trust much. I think it would've been pretty interesting.

5-Rogue One
This movie was great. I think it was the first Star Wars piece of content (that was canon at least) that focused on someone who wasn't a Jedi. The characters were good, and even though I didn't know them well I still cried when they died. Plus, K2SO was absolutely amazing and comedic gold. Apparently, there is going to be an Andor season 2, so I hope he appears in it.

4-New Hope
The movie that started it all. Of course this movie holds a special place in my heart, and always will. This move was great, and was the first Star Wars movie I ever saw. It was fun, action packed, and let you dive into this world without being overwhelmed (which I think is one of the most important aspects for a first movie). It wasn't the best, but I liked it.

3-Revenge of the Sith
Everything came to a head in this movie, and while it was pretty depressing, it was awesome. Anakin's slowly becoming like Vader was done well, and the actor (Hayden Christensen) did really well playing Anakin. Plus, this movie had one of the most epic lightsaber battles ever (you know what I'm talking about), and is one of the most quotable movies (who else can quote the whole talk Anakin and Obi Wan had before their battle? "I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new empire...")?

2-Empire Strikes Back
Of course this is up here. This movie had so many moments. Yoda's introduction, Lando's introduction, Hand and Leia's kiss/I love you, I know, and the most famous line in Star Wars, "I am your father." Plus, one thing that makes me like Luke's character more than Rey is the fact that in his first battle with Vader (which happened in this movie since they never even came face to face in New Hope), he lost, both literally (his hand) and figuratively. This movie was amazing.

1-Return of the Jedi
My favorite star wars movie, now and forever. This was a perfect ending for the original trilogy. Ever since I was little I loved this movie. Recently, it just had it's 40th anniversary and was put back in the theaters. I'm so happy me and my family got to see it, because it was an absolutely amazing experience!

Anyway, I hope you all have a good rest of your day and watch a lot of Star Wars stuff! Enjoy!

Great roundup of the films.
I will still go with Empire as the best film though!
