Lessons and fun with "The Lion King" soundtrack.

When I read about the new challenge from Hive Learners I breathed deeply, I love movies and how music sometimes matches with movies. And because of that, I have already participated in a cinetv contest about my favorite song in a movie, which at that time I chose the theme from "City of Angels", beautiful music from Goo Goo Dolls. On top of that, I made numerous posts about important music in movies or Tv shows. It is difficult to run from self-plagiarism with some baggage like that.

However, I have never written about a favorite soundtrack from a movie. Of course, I will need to pick one movie in which I mentioned at least one song, but the movie has other great songs which make it the best soundtrack ever made. The "Lion King" of course.

The movie's soundtrack is so good that it even turned into a Broadway musical, so I am not the only one that enjoyed it. When I watched the movie for the first time, I was still a child, around 10 years old. At that time I didn't care much about the lyrics but still, I enjoyed a bit singing Hakuna Matata, a fun song chanted by Timon and Pumba welcoming Simba to their fun way of life. I wrote a post about that song and how it compares to another Disney production "The Jungle Book" song called "Bare Necessities". Both songs try to teach us about how we need to be very aware of the good and simple things that are around us and how we can't miss them while worrying about the future or something that we don't have at the moment. Anyways, I wrote about this comparison before and I won't spend more time on that. Like I said before the movie has other amazing tracks.

My other favorite music that is also very impactful is called "The Circle of Life" and it was composed by Sir Elton John, who is one of the best music composers that I know. This song also teaches us how Life is big and important, and how important is for us to find our place there. Despite death being part of the circle, we still need to give more than take things. This way we can find our place, and our purpose during our short time here. That song is sung at the beginning of the movie when it is announced the birth of the next king, Simba. Who sings the song at this moment it isn't Elton John, but two other singers that also have beautiful voices.

Elton John also composed two other important songs in the movie. The first one is the fun "I just can't wait to be king". This song is sung when Simba is still living with his mom and dad. At that moment he is young and inexperienced, and because of that, he is a little bit arrogant that he is going to be the next king. Despite that song not having many lessons, still is a great song to sing along to.

And the last but not the least song of the movie we find "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", the song that won the Academy Awards against "Circle of Life" and "Hakuna Matata". So the Academy elected it as the best song of the movie. The song appears when Nala, the female lion that played a lot with Simba when he was a cub, appears to bring Simba back to his throne. It is a beautiful and sensitive song that touches our hearts.

It is a movie with a beautiful story, showing how important our life is and everything that makes part of that, like birth, death, love, and purpose. Magically, the soundtrack fits very well adding more content to all these subjects. A good reflection about how we are living our lives is important every moment, so why not watch a good animated movie to think about it?
