I like the reference you made to the golden cage for influencers and in general, famous people.
The same thing, I think happens to musicians. They put out what they want. People like it. They want more. The band keeps doing it.
They have a changing taste, or differing influences and inspirations, eventually. They don't want to be stagnant. They have new themes to explore. They've grown.
The golden cage is more of a reflection on the audience. If they are not prepared to grow with the person they idolise, what's the point in having an idol if you can not learn any lessons from them?

That's a great point. It's like loving someone's music for being revolutionary and then wanting to stay that way. It's quite contradictory. Thank you so much for your comment and for reading my post.
