I am very drawn to the central theme. You are absolutely right: society has an ideal of the “perfect mother” that is totally unrealistic and creates enormous pressure. The fact that this film dares to show the other side of motherhood—the regret, the stress, the desire for freedom and a professional career—is brave and necessary.

And your point about Olivia Colman's performance is key. She is an actress who conveys a powerful story with just a glance. If she manages to make us feel “contempt and compassion” for Leda at the same time, then her work is exceptional. It's true, it's easy to judge a character like that from the outside, but the phrase you use, “only she could know the anguish she felt,” is disarming. I think it's an excellent recommendation to watch it with an open mind.

Yes, the story is quite stressful from the point of view of someone who has not been through a situation like hers. I really liked Olivia's performance, and I know there was no better way to portray a situation that is very common but rarely talked about. It's a very good movie; I hope you get to see it.
