I saw it recently, and they actually have several similarities. At first, I had a hard time following it; it was very slow and had a lot of dialogue that didn't really speak volumes. However, the cinematography and music were great.

I totally agree with you, the story and the dialogues are quite weak. To be honest I didn't enjoy it, I expected more.
