Yesterday I went to see Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1, I think it is a movie made to the millimeter, where each spectacular action segment is calculated to perfection and the plot cleverly revolves around Artificial Intelligence, one of the greatest fears we face at this time.

The resource of the McGuffin, an element of suspense coined by Alfred Hitchcock, which advances the plot, although in reality it does not have the greatest relevance in it; it is an excuse element, of vital importance for the characters that incites them to pursue it or to safeguard it, but that in the end has no importance in the narrative resolution.

In this case it is a key, which works as an excuse to move an action film that takes us to great depths of the ocean in a submarine of last generation, to deserts, airports, Venetian parties, the streets of Rome and the Orient Express between mountains of central Europe.

In general the film shows very well planned action sequences, a fast-paced editing and impossible action scenes starring Tom Cruise himself and his colleagues, behind the risk and the most difficult yet spectacular chases, there is a lot of cinematographic talent courtesy of its director Christopher McQuarrie. The lengthy action scenes, are rising in intensity as the film progresses.

The film does not renounce to its sense of humor, very characteristic and in small installments, there is also room for drama.

The action is continuous, the film is frenetic and despite its 155-minute running time. All the new characters make a great contribution, highlighting Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff (in principle one of the bad guys of the film and who seems out of any John Wick movie), and Esai Morales.

Apart from the aforementioned actresses and actor, all the actors manage to shine; its protagonist Tom Cruise, Rebeca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Ving Rhames and Esai Morales.

The script is intelligent regarding the technological evolution we have today, McQuarry's direction is overwhelming and consolidates him as one of the best action directors of the moment.

Tom Cruise shines as an action hero that includes moments of fighting, stunts or car chases, being a very entertaining product. Recall that he shot these scenes without stuntmen.

The executing hand of the real villain of the film is Esai Morales (Gabriel), and leaves many expectations for the future conclusion of the film in its second part. Hayley Atwell is given almost the same prominence as Tom Cruise's character.

There have been moments, especially towards the middle, where the film revolves around suspense, what I didn't like, but that's a matter of the script, is the death of a character that had been developing very well in the two previous installments of Ethan Hunt's adventures. I do not reveal the name to avoid spoilers.

Two recommendations for you to enjoy the movie as it should be:

  • Do yourselves a favor and see it in the theater, the spectacular action scenes and landscapes deserve it.

  • Given its long duration, avoid drinking during its viewing, because if you go to the bathroom you may miss key and very exciting sequences.

The film has left me wanting to see more and I think that's one of the objectives that Cruise and Mc Quarry had in mind, mission accomplished my friends.

It is one of the best action films of the year along with John Wick, Sisu and Extraction 2, I have not yet categorized these films but for sure Mission Impossible : Dead Reckoning Part 1 is one of the top two.

A pleasure to greet you all and I recommend the film as an escape mechanism from our reality, it is very entertaining and with that it achieves one of the main objectives of any film.
