Very interesting. It looks like a good film, but one that may also be seen through a particular lens when one considers the Chinese context and the lack of support for people with disabilities. I immediately see a film that easily passes the Chinese sensors as an attempt to show that there is love, understanding, and support for individuals with disabilities, which is not really, or often, the case. Still, I think a nice change from the usual aggressive propaganda films being churned out in that side of the world.

Yes, they tend to make more action films, but I think most of the dramas are really good. Asians know how to make a good drama, and I thought the actor in this film did an incredible job; it’s no easy feat to play a young man with a physical disability, as is the case here, but he did it in such a way that you really feel you’re watching someone with a quite severe disability. There may be better films or stories out there, but this one is definitely worth watching. Cheers ☺️
