Hello movie lovers, I am @pretemi and in line with the contest going on currently on this cinetv community, I will be writing a review on the movie STRAW by Tyler Perry.

People say movies come in different forms, some are made just to make us laugh, some are made to thrill us with action and adventure but however there are some films that doesn't allow you to sit comfortably and weigh heavily on your heart, they move you to tears and they remain with you for so long. As for me, Tyler Perry’s movie STRAW is exactly that kind of film, it is not just a story, it is a burden, an emotional journey that was honestly too much for me to carry.

PLOT

STRAW tells the story of a woman who singlehandedly takes care of her girl child, she juggles between debts, work and her sick child. She owes money almost everywhere, she owes her landlady house rent, she has debt unpaid in the bank, she could afford the hospital bills for her child to get properly treated, she owes them in her child's school and lots more. She could afford even the basic things of life and her boss at work isn't helping her situation either, her entire life was in a total mess and all she thinks of is how to take care of her daughter.

In the middle of it all, one day she lost her child, she lost her house and she lost her job. As she was trying to figure everything out, she found herself in a crime involving a lot of money and the murder of her boss when she was trying to get her salary from him despite everything she was able to find her pay cheque and she headed for the bank while holding a gun and something that looks a time bomb with her.

The bank was where earth was loose, everyone got terrified because of the stuffs in her hands and the entire police was involved. Unknown to her all her drama and the explanation of her story was recorded live on a phone, she got mass empathy and her story moved everyone to tears. The situation was later taken care of and everyone leaves the bank hale and healthy but she was taken by the police at the long run but her story never left people for a very long time.

REVIEWS AND RATINGS

From the very first scene, STRAW felt emotional for me. What made the movie unbearable for me was not just the acting or the setting but the way it reflected real life so clearly. The movie reminded me of the frequent news stories here there on how difficult single motherhood can be especially when there is no financial, family and emotional assistance, it sucks really. It is not a film you watch for relaxation. It is not entertainment in the usual sense. It is a heavy, suffocating, emotional experience that forces you to understand the hidden tears of some women in the society.

For me, this movie was truly “too much.” Too much pain, too much reality, too much truth but at the same time, it was necessary. It reminded me that beneath anger is often sorrow and beneath regret is often hope waiting to be found.

I must really appreciate the outstanding acting of Tyler Perry, she really did a very outstanding job acting out her role and also let me not forget the bank manager, everyone on the bank and the police officers, it was really a job well done.

I will be rating this movie 9 out of 10 and I highly recommend it to everyone who love emotional stories full of life realities.
