The Last of Us - Is it recommended? (ZERO SPOILERS)
The first episode of the long-awaited HBO series The Last of Us has just been released and has been trending after leaving many viewers open-mouthed.
The series is based on and inspired by the video game of the same name, which tells the story of Joel and Ellie who embark on an apocalyptic survival adventure 20 years after a deadly virus spreads across the planet.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey star in the series alongside Anna Torv, Gabriel Luna, Nick Offerman, John Hannah, Murray Bartlett and Nelson Leis sharing the screen in scenes of action, suspense, horror and drama.
The plot is fairly faithful to the game although extra elements have been added to it, giving it a greater context with a more modern approach. The events take place in the year 2023 where the story is reminiscent of what we recently experienced with the COVID-19 virus.
The visual effects are at the level of a movie, combined with an unpredictable backstory. As the series has several actors of Latin descent, Hispanic accents and references to historical Latin characters can be appreciated.
The soundtrack is a bit varied between 80's, 70's and Latin music combined with retro style and sound effects taken from the game itself.
This is all about the first episode, and I'm sure the series will end as well as it started as it has a great cast and a good plot. I never played the video game, so I watched The Last of Us with no expectations and I got a great experience. Many would compare it to the new The Walking Dead, but it's a different story with different events, but it's on the same or higher level than The House of the Dragon.
Have you seen the pilot episode yet? If so, let me know what you think of it, and of course, without spoilers.
