Not a Royal watcher

First of all, let me be clear and say that I'm not following much of what any of the Royals anywhere in the world do, unless I accidentally bump on an article and I may read more whenever I'm curious. The closest thing to following the UK Royals has probably been at the time of Dian's car crash as my mother seemed intregued by the story at the time. I was still a child myself but yet I can remember exactly where I was that day when the news came out.

Harry

I did pick up some articles about prince Harry over the years, where he seemed to be painted as the rebel of the bunch and I also knew he went into the army. I didn't know he served for a decade though, I discovered that in the Harry & Meghan documentary on Netflix. I never looked into his persona more than bumping on an article here and there, I really didn't have an opinion about him to be honest.

Meghan

I knew Meghan from the tv show "Suits" which my boyfriend introduced us to at some point. We thought it was one of these shows that was easy to watch and we usually watched it whenever we weren't sucked into another show. I always liked Meghan in the show but never expected her to land into the Royal family obviously. When I read her name connected to the prince, I had to look up if this was the same Meghan, haha. It was weird to see how Hollywood met Royal, even more so when a wedding was announced.

The media

I have to admit that by the time their wedding took place, I was already quite aware of the disgusting things that media does and shows and even more so about 'The institution" and their way of covering up stuff as well as making sure that the narrative goes as they wish, at all costs. Therefore, I took things I read about Meghan lightly and didn't get sucked into thinking she's an evil woman pulling Harry away from his family like they tried to paint the picture to the world for some years. I always thought that the real truth is probably at the total opposite of what they're trying to make the world believe. I admit that I never made an effort to read into it though because I wasn't curious enough at the time.

The documentary

The first episodes were nice to see some background information as I wasn't up to date about the situation. So eventhough the shocking stuff was not revealed yet in these first episodes, I was happy that I watched them not long after the release date. I could not wait until the final episodes were released and started watching immediately, to take a break after one episode as I got sucked into another show, lol.

I have finished all of them yesterday and without giving away any spoilers, I'm 100% team Meghan and Harry and I can see and feel their emotion watching these episodes. Although our situations are not alike, and for outsiders even far from it, I too have experienced the fear of being hunted down and fearing our lives. I know how it feels to leave everything behind and leave your home in fear not knowing what's to come. Even though they had a lot more resources than us at the time, they clearly had the same emotions and struggles mentally and I emphasize with them anmd see they are not bullshitting. Once you are a bit awake and aware of the real world and hidden agendas, there's no way you can't see and feel Hary and Meghan's emotions and story is based on facts instead of a script.

The ones that got away

To me, they are the ones that got away and I applaud them for it. I think Harry tried to avoid them being targeted like his mother and taking back the reigns over his family's life by leaving it all behind. My experience is that this is probably the most empowering thing to do, remove yourself from the situation, even though others think that's a stupid and drastic move, and then build your life again without the old surroundings influincing every step you take.

We walked totally different paths, and yet my family is very similar to the couple Harry and Meghan, they as people had the same challenges and emotions and they will probably be unbreakable as a couple.

I highly recommend you watching it, even if you aren't a Royal fan! This is the story about two people and not 2 Royals!

Hmm, nice! Likewise, I am also not a Royal fan or anything, but just would read or watch anything I would accidentally come across to. It would be interesting to watch this series. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I'd really recommend it because it's their story and I think they are still staying very polite and respectful towards those that did them wrong, even though you can see and hear the frustration in their words, they are not doing this to harm others but to show the world their side.

Usually every story has two sides, but when media gets involved being public figures as they are, it's clear that lies are being fed constantly to follow the desired narrative. Human emotions are not important anymore, not even of their own family members. It's actually really sad and shows them they are people just like you and me.

Let me know what you thought of it when you saw it, I'm curious :)
