In fabric, el vestido rojo del mal - ESP/ENG

El estudio A24 lo hizo otra vez. "In fabric" es una película incómodamente extraña, pero al mismo tiempo hipnotizante. Es del género de terror y va de un vestido rojo embrujado que causa estragos en la vida de quien lo compra.

¿A quién no le gustan las rebajas? Es temporada de rebajas en unos grandes almacenes de ropa, nuestra protagonista en la primera parte de la película (Sheila), después de quedar claramente sugestionada por un perturbador comercial de televisión, se dirige a los almacenes y ahí visualiza puesto en un maniquí un vestido rojo de estilo clásico, bastante intrigante y bonito para ser tan económico, pero Sheila no cuestiona esto, quedo totalmente embelesada y dispuesta a comprar el vestido. Lo que la pobre Sheila desconoce, es que ese vestido tiene una maldición adherida a él, toda persona que lo compre, sufrirá de eventos muy desafortunados y totalmente extraños.

The A24 studio did it again. "In fabric" is an uncomfortably strange, but at the same time mesmerizing film. It's of the horror genre and is about a haunted red dress that causes chaos in the life of the person who buys it.

Who doesn't like sales? It's sale season in a department store, our protagonist in the first part of the film (Sheila), after being clearly influenced by a disturbing television commercial, goes to the store and there she sees on a mannequin a classic style red dress, quite intriguing and beautiful for such a cheap dress, but Sheila does not question this, she is totally captivated and willing to buy the dress. What poor Sheila does not know, is that this dress has a curse attached to it, anyone who buys it, will suffer from very unfortunate and totally strange events.

In fabric parece algún tipo de experimento extraño. La película es de terror, pero también tiene bastante humor negro y situaciones sin sentido que hace que pareciera que metieron diferentes ingredientes en una licuadora para ver qué salía y pues... salió la película ja, ja, ja. Esto no quiere decir que sea mala, a mí me gusto bastante (ya acepte que me gustan las cosas raras y los vómitos creativos plop), su extraña forma de desarrollarse y la historia contada, no la hacen mala, si hay coherencia en las situaciones presentadas, es decir, hay un motivo y una consecuencia, que muchas veces no está claro, pero ahí está, simplemente queda en evidencia que es de esos filmes que buscan asustar valiéndose de lo que puede parecer desconocido o carente de lógica.

La película es larga, nos muestra distintos protagonistas, lo que hace que esté dividida en dos partes (dos actos) y dependiendo de los gustos de cada quien, una parte gustara más que la otra. Independientemente de cuál guste más, todo es parte de la misma historia que gira en torno al misterioso vestido rojo que causa deseo en cierto tipo de personas, sí, en cierto tipo particular, porque, si algo pude observar, es que el vestido no llama la atención de todo el mundo, sino que pareciera que seduce a quienes están pasando por situaciones injustas o problemáticas.

In fabric seems like some kind of strange experiment. The movie is a horror movie, but it also has a lot of black humor and senseless situations that make it seem like they put different ingredients in a mixer to see what would come out and well... the movie came out ha, ha, ha, ha. This does not mean it is bad, I liked it a lot (I already accepted that I like weird things and creative vomit plop), its strange way of developing and the story told, do not make it bad, there is coherence in the situations presented, that is, there is a reason and a consequence, which often is not clear, but there it is, it just becomes evident that it is one of those films that seek to scare using what may seem unknown or illogical.

The film is long, it shows us different protagonists, which makes it divided into two parts (two acts) and depending on the tastes of each person, one part will like more than the other. Regardless of which one you like more, it is all part of the same story that revolves around the mysterious red dress that causes desire in a certain type of people, yes, in a certain particular type, because, if I could observe anything, it is that the dress does not attract the attention of everyone, but it seems to seduce those who are going through unfair or problematic situations.

¿Es todo sin sentido en In fabric?, la respuesta es no. La película es extraña, sí, pero tiene una evidente crítica social al consumismo vulgarmente excesivo que hacen muchas personas, las cuales su mente ha caído víctima de los lavados de cerebro hechos a través de comerciales y publicidades en general. Muchos individuos compran sin siquiera saber la razón exacta por la cual están comprando, ¿qué buscan?, ¿estatus?, ¿llenar un vacío?, puede haber muchas razones, pero estamos claros que los medios se aprovechan de esto para vender cada cosa que se les ocurra y que si nos ponemos a pensar detenidamente, no son necesarias (creo que todos hemos caído en esto alguna vez).

Estéticamente, bueno, quienes me conocen saben que me encanta lo vintage y esta película tiene mucho de este estilo. Hay una ambientación y vestimentas bastante "antique", muy de los años 60 - 70 por allá por Europa, que llama la atención y va acorde con el espíritu de la película. Muchas escenas están producidas como si estuviéramos viendo un sueño o para los que han consumido psicotrópicos, supongo que consumirlos se debe ver como esas escenas (plop), todo muy disperso, colorido, extraño y con vibras ominosas.

Is it all nonsense in In fabric? the answer is no. The film is strange, yes, but it has an obvious social critique of the vulgarly excessive consumerism of many people whose minds have fallen victim to the brainwashing done through commercials and advertisements in general. Many individuals buy without even knowing the exact reason why they are buying, what are they looking for?, status?, fill a void?, there may be many reasons, but we know that the media take advantage of this to sell anything they can think of and if we think about it carefully, they are not necessary (I think we all have fallen into this at some point).

Aesthetically, well, those who know me know that I love vintage and this movie has a lot of that style. There is a very "antique" setting and costumes, very 60's - 70's from Europe, that catches the eye and is in line with the spirit of the film. Many scenes are produced as if we were watching a dream or for those who have consumed psychotropics, I guess consuming them must look like those scenes (plop), all very scattered, colorful, strange and with ominous vibes.

Si yo tuviera que describir este filme, diría que roza lo absurdo mientras navega entre el horror, drama y comedia, creando un resultado cuestionable, entretenido y casi místico. En sí, yo no diría que la comedia es parte inherente del film, pero se muestran escenas tan extrañas que nuestro cerebro nos hará percibirlas como graciosas de lo random que son (si, random).

Este filme es sin duda un material audiovisual que a muchos dejara pensando, ¿qué acabo de ver? 👁️👄👁️

Si les gusta lo extraño, el terror, la sátira, este filme les va a gustar. A mí me quedaron ganas de comprarme un vestido rojo como ese, ja, ja, ja.

If I had to describe this film, I would say that it borders on the absurd while navigating between horror, drama and comedy, creating a questionable, entertaining and almost mystical result. In itself, I wouldn't say that comedy is an inherent part of the film, but there are scenes so bizarre that our brains will make us perceive them as funny because of how random (yes, random) they are.

This film is undoubtedly an audiovisual material that will leave many people thinking, what did I just watch? 👁️👄👁️

If you like strangeness, horror, satire, you will like this film. For me, it made me want to buy a red dress like that, ha, ha, ha, ha.
