Demon Slayer Infinity Castle is the highest grossing anime movie worldwide. I already own an anime youtube channel so being an anime fan myself, I really enjoyed the movie, so let me write a small review on it and let me tell you what I liked and what I didn’t like about the movie. Let me drop my honest review.

Before that I must tell you that I went to watch the movie on 12th September. So I’m kinda late to the party. Right now this movie already surpassed big names like Superman from DCU and Fantastic Four First Steps from Marvel. The movie has made a total of $642 Million by the time I’m writing this post. Some fans want it to reach $1 which sounds pretty ambitious to me.

Synopsis

Demon Slayer The Movie: Infinity Castle (Part 1) picks up as the Demon Slayer Corps prepares for their ultimate battle against Muzan Kibutsuji. Just as the Hashira and their allies regroup after recent victories, Muzan strikes back, pulling Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the strongest slayers into his mysterious domain named the Infinity Castle, a vast, shifting fortress where hallways stretch endlessly and rooms rearrange without warning.
Inside this surreal space, the demon slayer corp members were separated and forced to face deadly Upper Rank demons in high-stakes encounters. Each warrior must navigate the castle’s unpredictable traps while fighting to survive and reunite. As the battle deepens, bonds between the Demon Slayers are tested, past scars resurface, and the path toward Muzan’s throne grows more dangerous.
This first part sets the stage for the final confrontation, blending breathtaking animation, intense action, and deep emotional stakes while keeping the ultimate fate of the heroes shrouded in mystery.

Movie Experience

I’ve watched previous Demon Slayer movies in the theatre as well. Except for the mugen train movie, the others were ripping us off. They were just adding the previous season's last episode and the first episode of the upcoming season, and calling it a movie. They released two movies like this and I think now they realised this was a completely wrong move. And the movies didn’t give seamless experiences either.

But the infinity castle movie changes everything. The sole purpose of this movie was the theatre experience. Doesn't matter if you like this anime franchise or not. But the experience you get in theatre is next level.

The movie is made for theatre only. Trust me you won't enjoy the movie in your home at all unless you own a big speaker set and TV. The sounds and haptics were solely designed for theatres.

Now let's talk about the movie action sequences. The visuals are top notch as always. Ufotable didn't disappoint at all. They again broke their previous records. Also the actions are nothing without the music. That's why Demon Slayer creators always hire the top talents and they did the same for this movie. The music is given by Lisa & Aimer. The background music sounds so good in every situation. That's the reason even a generic story of demon slayer feels good.

The action sequences were perfect, as long as the action goes on the screen, you won’t even blink your eyes. It has 3 major fights, those were Doma vs Shinobu, Zenitsu vs Kaigaku and Akaza vs Giyu & Tanjiro. Mark my words, you’re gonna love every fight. Still the first two 2 fights were cut short and the movie majorly focuses on one fight as it has a big demon backstory. However the two other fights' duration were justified because their fight didn’t have much to show.

The only thing I struggled to keep up was the pacing, some backstory and moments seemed stretched and unnecessary. I feel like they could’ve kept it tight paced.

Positives ✅

  • Great Action scenes,
  • Good Story
  • A perfect balance of comedy, emotion and actions
  • Character development

Negatives ❌

  • Pacing seems stretched in some places, these are just small hiccups nothing major.
  • The demon who created Infinity castle, seems too overpowered even though she’s not.

Is It Worth Watching?

Apart from a handful of negatives, I would say you definitely should watch the movie, the movie will give all emotions at once, you’ll laugh, you’ll get angry and you’ll cry for sure. Besides this movie is made for theatre experience only. And Crunchyroll officials said the movie won’t be available on OTT before 2025. Also the movie is designed in a way that everyone can watch it even though you’ve not watched anything in Demon Slayer.

Conclusion

Overall I would say the movie is good enough to watch, even though the story isn’t its strong point, it fills up other check marks for being an enjoyable movie in the theatre. I’d give it a solid 9/10 score, IMDB gave it 8.5/10 which sounds justified to me.
