[ENG-ESP] Andor (REVIEW)

If you watched Game of Thrones you will have followed the continuation of its story in The House of the Dragon, I don't know if you know that the series Westworld indirectly connects with these two previous ones (I mention these because they are among the most watched). 2022 was a year where many series gave light as The Rings of Power, the last season of The Walking Dead, Moon Knight (very good) and even the last season of Titans despite its controversy, but little or almost nothing is said about Andor, and I think it comes being one of the best series of last year and I'll tell you why.

Si viste Game of Thrones le habrás seguido el hilo a la continuación de su historia en The House of the Dragon, no sé si sabes que la serie Westworld conecta indirectamente con estas dos anteriores (menciono estas porque son de las más vistas). El 2022 fue un año donde muchas series dieron luz como The Rings of Power, la última temporada de The Walking Dead, Moon Knight (buenísima) e incluso la última temporada de Titans a pesar de su polémica, pero poco o casi nada se habla de Andor, y creo que viene siendo una de las mejores series del pasado año y te diré por qué.

Star Wars saga is very underrated and underestimated not because of its story, but because of its graphics, the visual interaction of its characters (dolls that move very sharply and little use of CGI) and what people like the least: the laser swords. Since Disney bought the commercial rights from Lucasfilm, all this has changed, achieving better graphics and a better production finish while maintaining the aesthetics with which Star Wars is characterized.

Las saga de Star Wars es muy infravalorada y subestimada debido a no por su historia, sino por sus gráficos, la interacción visual de sus personajes (muñecos que se mueven muy bruscamente y poco uso de CGI) y lo que a la gente menos les gusta: las espadas láser. Desde que Disney compró los derechos comerciales de Lucasfilm, todo esto ha cambiado, logrando mejores gráficos y un mejor acabado de producción siempre manteniendo la estética con la que Star Wars se caracteriza.

Andor is not one of those typical Star Wars stories, it's available on Disney+ and it has a huge graphic that stands out, many epic scenes and an excellent plot that differs from the traditional. Cassian Andor is a thief who becomes indirectly involved in a revolutionary policy against the Empire, forming an alliance with the Rebellion to overthrow the oppressive dictatorship. Science fiction it is, as it's futuristic, but its themes are out of the fantasy of the swords and focuses on the struggle for freedom, being the series, a political thriller that can even inspire fear.

Andor no es una de esas típicas historias de Star Wars, está disponible en Disney+ y tiene un gráfico descomunal que sobresale, muchas escenas épicas y una trama excelente que difiere de lo tradicional. Cassian Andor es un ladrón que se involucra indirectamente en una política revolucionaria contra el Imperio, formando una alianza con la Rebelión para derrocar a la dictadura opresora. De ciencia y ficción es, ya que es futurista, pero sus temas se salen de la fantasía de las espadas y se centra en la lucha por la libertad, siendo la serie, un thriller político que te puede hasta inspirar miedo.

Something similar to Game of Thrones presents Andor regarding the fight for the "throne" but without a throne, but for universal liberation. With only 12 episodes it has received good reviews for its script, direction, special effects, soundtrack and performances with a very dark and mature tone that is not often seen on the small screen.

Algo parecido a Game of Thrones presenta Andor con respecto a la lucha por el “trono” pero sin trono, sino por la liberación universal. Con sólo 12 episodios ha recibido buenas críticas por su guión, dirección, efectos especiales, banda sonora y actuaciones con un tono muy oscuro y maduro que no se frecuenta ver mucho en la pantalla chica.

Andor has the budget of a movie and not just any movie, in fact much more than one, as between the actors and the eye candy it takes viewers with it. Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgard, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Andy Serkis and Fiona Shaw make up the main cast, but more star actors appear in it with incredible acting dominated by interactive dialogue and great action scenes.

Andor tiene un presupuesto de una película y no de cualquiera, de hecho mucho más que de una, ya que entre los actores y la atracción visual se lleva a los espectadores. Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgard, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Andy Serkis y Fiona Shaw conforman el elenco principal, pero más actores estrellas aparecen en ella con una actuación increíble predominada por diálogos interactivos y grandes escenas de acción.

The first chapter doesn't hook you at all, in fact it's the softest of all, where you can appreciate a beginning as it would be in any other series; just watch 1 and 2 and then tell me how about it. The events of Andor take place 5 years before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story where we see how it's that begins this revolution that extends further, from the deepest and most insignificant, laying its foundations for a second season that will connect with the remaining films.

El primer capítulo no engancha para nada, de hecho es el más suave de todos, donde se puede apreciar un comienzo como sería en cualquier otra serie; sólo mira el 1 y el 2 y luego dime qué tal. Los hechos de Andor transcurren 5 años antes de Rogue One: A Star Wars Story donde vemos cómo es que comienza esta revolución que se extiende más adelante, desde lo más profundo e insignificante, sentando sus bases para una segunda temporada que conectará con las restantes películas.

Soundtrack is another highlight, along with the graphics, which together leave you impressed by the synchronization between scenes that justifies its budget. On the other hand, we can see a fully industrialized city where there is mention of "digital bank transfers" and "utilities" that seem to be a futuristic evolution of what we see today with cryptocurrencies, as well as the words credits and resources.

La banda sonora es otra que se las trae junto a los gráficos, que juntos te dejan impactados por la sincronización entre escenas que justifica su presupuesto. Por otra parte, podemos ver una ciudad totalmente industrializada donde se hace mención a “transferencias bancarias digitales” y “utilidades” que parece que vienen siendo una evolución futurista de lo que vemos hoy con las criptomonedas, también como las palabras créditos y recursos.

What I liked most about this series, besides the possibly real and futuristic science and fiction, is the similarity it has with our current world, where talking about AI, robots and value instead of money is something normal, as well as the existence of holography and intergalactic travel (which Starlink is currently preparing).

Lo que más me ha gustado de esta serie, además de la posiblemente real y futurista ciencia y ficción, es la similitud que tiene con nuestro mundo actual, donde hablar de IA, robots y valor en vez de dinero es algo normal, así también como la existencia de la holografía y viajes intergalácticos (que actualmente Starlink está preparando).

Recommended? No, highly recommended, and with 12/10. I started watching it without expecting anything and I ended up watching it in less than 4 days. If you have already seen it, let me know your favorite scene, I can't tell you mine because it would be a spoiler, but it's in chapter 5. If you haven't seen it, try to watch it in Full HD so you can feel the graphic weight of what I'm talking about, an unparalleled experience that is scarce nowadays.

¿Recomendada? No, recomendadísima, y con 12/10. Comencé a verla sin esperar nada y terminé viéndola en menos de 4 días. Si ya la viste déjame dicho tu escena favorita, no te puedo decir la mía porque te haría spoiler, pero está en el capítulo 5. Si no la has visto, trata de verla en Full HD para que sientas el peso gráfico de lo que te hablo, una experiencia sin igual escasa hoy en día.
