Hello and welcome to the 55TH edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. The Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun in a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community and showcase the work of deserving authors.

And it’s all simple. Every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style, and word count. Title: My Oxford Year

Honestly, I stumbled upon it while mindlessly scrolling through a list of romantic dramas one quiet Saturday night. The title caught my attention, Oxford has a certain pull, doesn’t it? The allure of cobblestone streets, vintage libraries, and the haunting poetry of old academia. I thought I was about to settle into a charming love story in an ivy-clad university town. What I got was so much more—it was a film that gripped my heart, stirred emotions I wasn’t ready for, and left me quietly devastated in the most beautiful way possible.

Title: Exhuma: The Korean Horror That Stays With You Long After the Lights Come On

One scene that stuck with me was when the shaman (played brilliantly by Kim Go-eun) performed the ritual before the grave was opened. The drums, the chanting, the vivid colors it wasn’t just for show. You could feel the weight of tradition, the connection to ancestors, and the danger of breaking those ties. That moment made me understand that Exhuma wasn’t only about supernatural horror; it was about respect and the consequences of ignoring it. And see what could happen next if it wasn't performed.

Title: Blue Beetle

Many times I have watched sci-fi movies and superhero movies. I have watched Wolverine, Flash, Iron Man, Ant-Man, and many others. But among them all, one that I love the most is that of Wakanda Forever. I don’t know what got me to like the movie, but the death of the Black Panther himself was a hit to the movie. Got me so emotional, but still I know there will always be a way out. Recently I watched a movie where Iron Man made an end to his career too. Captain America also plays his role and some other superheroes.

Title: Akpan & Oduma, The Movie. The first of its kind

A few months ago, Wale Adenuga Production, which is involved in a lot of entertainment projects and is commonly known as WapTV, announced the first-of-its-kind movie production from one of the oldest skit makers in Nigeria — Akpan & Oduma. The announcement was welcomed with loads of joy, especially by fans of the Akpan & Oduma comedy series, of which I am one. We had been expecting a full movie for a long time, but it never came, so this announcement was a huge trigger of excitement, with expectations of a massive hit. They had never done anything like a full movie before — it had always been short series.

Title: Sinners

Second, the scenes were nice and all but the pace of everything felt rushed, the tense moments came and went just as quickly. What kept going throw my mind was “this could have lasted at least more than one evening” I feel that would have a lot of things to settle in. That’s not to say there weren’t parts I enjoyed. The blues performances were very lovely. Sammie’s ability to summon spirits through his music gave the movie a unique touch. But overall, I saw Sinners as a movie that had a lot of potential but wasn’t cooked long enough.

Title: Pantheon

The rise of conflict begins early in the series but the prominent one stood out as Ellen’s rejection of Dave’s comeback. That was only a glimpse of the problem that would come further down the line with other humans and the thought of technology. Just yesterday, I and someone in my comments exchanged our two cents on how the fear of the unknown is rather the reason for so much hate. This is also explored here. When I said Caspian Keyes had a very steep background, I meant it. I did not see it coming with him. The twists in this series were mind blowing and engaging.

Title: The First Night With the Duke

Well, for starters, I think I can remember my reaction the moment I saw the poster on my Movie box! The male protagonist is my guyyyyyy!! Like I love love love him!! (Forgive my manners! But are y’all girlies still hung up on Gu Jun Pyo?) Nah nah nah! I've moved. But don't worry I'm not gonna be doing a review of this movie called: The First Night With The Duke, by embellishing my favorite Korean Star, Ok Taec-yeon, I would rather, give this review based on how I loved this series. It's really a beautiful one and you've got to check it out.

Title: Paradise – When Time Is No Longer Yours

Paradise didn't give me answers. It gave me questions. And maybe that's the most valuable thing. It made me think about what it means to truly live. What i would do if I had to choose between age and love. And how easily we can become part of a system we hate—just because it gives us something we think we lack. Maybe the real dystopia isn't in a future with technologies that steal our time, but in the present where we waste it without valuing it. Paradise didn't teach me how to fight the system, but it did make me wish I wasn't part of it anymore...
