Movie A to Z Challenge - Letter K

Hi friends, it's been a pretty rough couple of days with a lot of travel for work issues, so there may well be some breaks in my Movie A to Z Challenge. I have to get up early and go to bed late, so there's not as much time left for blogging as I'd like.

Anyway - got to the letter K today and picked a couple of very cool movies in my opinion.

Kong: Skull Island, Jordan Vogt-Roberts

Giant monster movies are great, but I admit that after Peter Jackson's epic and tragic King Kong story, I wasn't expecting much from the new movie. And what a pleasure it was to be wrong!

A thrilling adventure, a large-scale spectacle, unparalleled special effects and terrific artwork. Tom Hiddleston in green smoke, with a sword against flying monsters is probably my favorite scene in the movie of 2017 and every time I rewatch it I come to wild delight. So does the comical John C. Reilly character.

In my opinion, it's a perfect example of a balanced adventure film with great locations and a cool antagonist.

Kill Bill, Quentin Tarantino

Besides good sci-fi and horror flicks I am very partial to samurai action films, and of course I can't help but include in this list Quentin Tarantino's ruthless Kung Fu-inspired dilogy, which features a good 10 scenes from the cult thriller *Lady Snowblood (Shurayukihime) from the 70s with the brilliant Meiko Kaji.

As always, Tarantino is very good with witty dialogue, a twisting plot, sudden bloody fights with excellent choreography and no less impressive with brilliantly written and acted characters. And of course I can't help but mention the fantastic soundtrack, most of the songs from which I have listened to with pleasure for years.
